Accidental Crossing

Location: USS Washington/Deep Space 9

Shran sat in the Command Office on DS9, Cmdr Kira sitting across from him as she pulled up data regarding his request. "It would appear that we can bring aboard those runabouts and provide them a thorough work up immediately captain" she said.

"Excellent. I'll have my XO bring them over immediately" replied Shran.

Shran and Kira both notified the appropriate personnel. Shran then made his way out of the office with Kira. "I'll tell you Nerys, I'd do like you in that StarFleet uniform. Seems fitting."

"It takes some getting used to" she replied, a smile on her face.

"The transition of Bajor into the Federation is moving apace. Honestly, this is one of the better transitions I have seen in my time in StarFleet. Bajor is an excellent addition to the Federation, and the benefits to both the Federation and Bajor will be seen for centuries."

"I agree" she said with a hint of trepidation.

"I know you will always have doubts Nerys. Eventually Sisko will come back and all will make sense to you and your people."

Suddenly the red alert klaxons began to sound. "Report" said Kira.

"The runabouts from the Washington are all in distress. For some reason their warp cores are going critical" said the lieutenant at Ops.

"Beam the officers off the runabouts" said Shran.

"Transport in progress. I'm detecting fluctuations in the transport though, origin unknown"

"Just get them here" said Shran as the runabouts exploded in space, shaking the station slightly.

On the transporter pad several figures materialized, but they were not in StarFleet uniform, but rather in dirty tattered clothes. Shran grabbed a phaser from the weapons slot and slowly approached.

"Identify yourselves" he said, moving towards them cautiously.

As they turned around, their faces were known, and yet something was quite different.
