Welcome to the USS Washington-E!
Welcome to the USS Washington-E, a post-Dominion War sim. The year is 2386. The Dominion War has been over for several years, but its aftermath is still unfolding. The Federation and the Romulans are the only two major powers, and only the Federation is stable, to a point. The Klingon Empire is still rebuilding and addressing its many wounds from the war, Cardassia is in shambles and occupied, and the Romulans are in far worse shape because of their own misdeeds than they would have outsiders believe. The Federation is now the lone superpower in the Quadrant, a role it neither wants nor enjoys. Exploration has returned, but the dangers of space have never been more pronounced. Welcome to the USS Washington, where danger and adventure lurk around every corner.

The shortest month of the year is over, and we are moving into March and the greenery of Spring. Before things warm up and everyone starts looking to go outside again, we did have ourselves a good month of posting. Honestly, I think the month was dominated by Lt Kono, and the awards reflect that. That isn't to say other people didn't make contributions, she just had a much larger volume of material over anyone else. As the mission seems to be moving towards its climax in the main story, I think we'll see a lot more from everyone else…

It amazes me that we are already into February. Those of us in the US spent the back end of January likely buried in snow and ice as winter weather pushed in on the extreme. On the bright side of that, it definitely allowed for people to write, and everyone seemingly was happy to do so in January. We had 6 writers that had at least 5 posts in January, and everyone had at least 2 posts if they were active in January. It gave me plenty of material to review and made deciding on the awards tough. Everyone in…

Mission: The Shuttle Incident
Posted on Wed Mar 25th, 2026 @ 10:20am by Captain Shran dh'Klar & Lieutenant JG Kate Kono & Lieutenant JG James Phoenix & Ensign Janelle Barett
"The ship went haywire and the console blew up. I am treating Kate and Phoenix. They should be fine in a few minutes" Viviana responded to Shran's request for information.
The Andorian approached the controls, Janelle attempting to pilot the vessel as it appeared they were falling into the atmosphere of a planet. "That planet appears to be Class M. I'll scan the area, look for a landing site. Can you maneuver at all?"
Janelle didn’t look away from the controls, her hands steady despite the constant shudder running through the frame.
“I’ve got partial control,” she said. “Thrusters are…

Mission: The Shuttle Incident
Posted on Mon Mar 23rd, 2026 @ 5:35pm by Captain Shran dh'Klar
Shran sat in the rear common area of the runabout while the others with him were in the front of the ship piloting it on their way back to the Washington. Shran had gone to Dralin II for a meeting with StarFleet brass regarding security and intelligence matters. The Washington was supposed to meet them in orbit after completing a survey of the Omniclan trinary system, but they had been informed a few hours before the rendezvous that the Washington had been called to the Loras system on a medical emergency. Jon was of the mind that they could still…

Mission: Not All Orders Are Easy
Posted on Sun Mar 22nd, 2026 @ 11:13pm by Captain Shran dh'Klar & Commander Jonathan Grayson & Commander Samantha Howard
Shran was on the bridge orbited the planet. Deanna and Janelle had returned with Darkwa and already begun a full debrief of the man and his team, leaving Paquin in the care of Sam due to her condition. The Ferengi situation had also be handled, partially due to the away team, and partially due to Shran informing the Ferengi daimon that if they didn't remove themselves from Federation space, he'd send everyone aboard that ship to the Divine Treasury. It had been a bit of hyperbole but raised voices and the look of an angry Andorian ensured the Ferengi vacated…

Mission: Not All Orders Are Easy
Posted on Sun Mar 22nd, 2026 @ 10:59pm by Lieutenant Commander Deanna Celes & Ensign Janelle Barett
Deanna and Janelle exited the blind and made their way down the hillside, the terrain still familiar, even though it was much darker now. The weather had cleared at least, but it was still fairly cool out. Deanna was moving at a quick clip, more like this was a tactical training exercise.
Janelle matched Deanna’s pace without comment, her attention shifting ahead to the settlement below. “If Darkwa is still planetside, he’ll have heard the disruption at the bar,” she said evenly. “We may not have the element of surprise.”
"He may not come willingly, and we won't have the…

Mission: Not All Orders Are Easy
Posted on Sun Mar 22nd, 2026 @ 10:38pm by Chief Petty Officer Aaron Geiger & Lieutenant Imik S'Niohun
ON
Imik now wandered the blind looking at what soon would be gone, the belongings and equipment which could be reused had been removed now what remained was an empty shell. The chief was working diligently doing his thing, Imik tried to watch him to fully understand what he was doing but had given up, he seemed lost in his own little world. =/\="Imik to Geiger, how are you getting along with your work?"=/\=
Aaron double checked the data transfer progress to his Padd. Nearly there he nodded.
=/\= "Almost done here with the initial steps L.T. all personal logs…

"Personal Log, Lieutenant JG James Phoenix.
This is a bit of a weird log. I haven't sat down to type one of these since my assignment at Deep Space Two. I never really needed to. I usually wait until I'm off duty and alone in my quarters. I suppose I'm just bored on this road-trip with my colleagues, and I don't want to bother them while I am keeping an eye on the Bahamut's tactical readouts.
We are returning to the Washington after an intelligence conference with the brass. I am honored that the Captain asked me to represent security…

Personal Log, Ensign Janelle Barett
I was selected for my first away mission today.
I knew it was coming, statistically at least. New ensign, operations background, limited planetside exposure. Eventually the numbers align. Still, when my name was spoken on the bridge, it felt unreal in a way training simulations never manage.
I do not think I smiled. I do not think I said anything unnecessary. I acknowledged the order, confirmed readiness, and did exactly what I have practiced doing for years.
Then I went to my quarters and stood there for a full minute doing absolutely nothing.
There is…
» Personal Log - The Quiet

Personal log, Ensign Janelle Barett.
When I think back on my first night aboard the Washington, what stays with me is not the size of my quarters or the hum of the ship’s systems.
It is how quiet everything felt once the door closed.
The room was larger than my Academy quarters. Quieter, too. No voices through thin walls, no shared routines, only the steady, impersonal thrum of the ship, constant and unjudging. At the time, I told myself it was calming.
I remember standing there longer than necessary, posture still perfect, hands at my sides, as if waiting for…

Computer, start recording:-
I have now been on board for several days, still I have not seen nor reported to the Sinkahue or Grayson. My mind is much conflicted with these new orders from my High Command, just how they expect me to continue with my duties while remaining apart from all Federation personnel is something I at this time fail to see as possible.
It is almost as if they want this collaboration to collapse into failure, maybe the section of our Council which is pushing for us to end all contact with the Federation has finally turned the…

Captain's Log
After several weeks and a few interesting encounters, we have returned to Federation space. I managed to convince StarFleet to give us a few days at Risa. Of course, StarFleet didn't just grant us a simple leave. They tasked us with providing the normal maintenance work to the weather control grid on Risa, which my engineers are now working on. Lt O'Connor has voiced a complaint that StarFleet needs to base an engineering team here fulltime to better maintain the grid, which he indicates has been severely neglected.
The first round of transports down to the planet have…
