Family Matters

Posted on Mon Jan 24th, 2022 @ 12:44pm by Captain Shran dh'Klar

Mission: Respite
Location: Andoria

Shran materialized in the StarFleet facility in his hometown. The lieutenant manning the transporter controls stood at attention and Shran gave him a simple acknowledgement. He stepped off the platform and exited the room, walking down the corridors and passing by several StarFleet junior officers as he made his way out of the facility and to the street. Once he reached the street he took a moment to take it all in. It had been some time since he had been home, a little over a year, and he had very nearly forgotten how good it felt to be home.

As much as he enjoyed being back on Andoria, he had something better waiting for him. He made his way through the streets littered with Andorians mostly, until he reached the residential district of of the city and he could see his home in the distance. As he grew near, he could hear the familiar sounds of young laughter and could only assume it must be his daughter Talla. He hadn't informed anyone of his return, he wanted it to be a surprise. He rang the door chime and waited.

The door opened and there stood Talla. Her eyes grew large and she leapt for joy as she embraced her father. "Father! I've missed you so much!"

Shran for his part equally embraced his daughter and savored the moment. He could hear others coming to the doorway and looked to see them all standing in amazement as he picked Talla up and entered the domicile. While not completely customary, his sons, Archer and Thy'lek both moved in and embraced him as well.

He broke the embrace and finally commented, "You have all grown." He looked past them to see his two wives, Jhamel and Talas. "You have both done remarkably well with them. My apologies for not informing you of my arrival, but I wanted it to be a surprise."

He walked over to the two women and embraced them both. The children came from behind and joined the embrace, and it was at this moment Shran was reminded just how lucky he was.

"How long will you be with us?"

"Three days, perhaps a few extra hours beyond that. It isn't much, but I will make the best of it."

They all made their way into the large gathering room and sat, Shran doing his best to renew the personal relationships with his family.
