Mission:
Family
Location: USS Washington
Shran walked over to his minibar and poured himself a glass of Andorian ale. He quickly drank it and then poured himself another. He took the drink and walked over to his chair in his living area, the lights dim.
"Computer, begin recording" he said in deep thought. "Captain's log, stardate..." he thought for a moment, "computer, input the current stardate."
He sipped his drink. "My impromptu recall into intelligence deep cover duty ended with the admiral not only defeating Lovok, but his Mirror Universe counterpart. My only concern now is that my own Mirror counterpart managed to escape my ship with the aid of an officer aboard this ship, and we don't know what they will do now. They cannot go to any core Federation world, but that doesn't mean they won't be able to get things they need on the fringe worlds."
He took another sip from his drink. "The admiral has ordered us back to Earth for maintenance and a little R&R. We arrive at McKinley station in a few hours. My crew will enjoy the vacation time. The humans in particular I believe are looking forward to this as our time there coincides with the Christmas holiday. For my part, I considered take this time to visit Andoria, but decided against it. My family has instead decided to visit me aboard the ship. I look forward to it, though I may plan an excursion to the planet. Earth does have many beautiful locales to visit, especially during this time of year. The admiral often talks of Ireland this time of year, and I always enjoyed Alaska. Perhaps I can take my children to view some of those spots."
He took another sip of his drink, this time finishing it. "End log." He walked over to the table at the bar and placed the glass down in the sterilizing area. "Two weeks in orbit of Earth. The crew will be pleased."
He walked over to the window and looked out, the stars zooming past in a blur as they travelled at warp. He stood and looked out the window deep in thought. He had said much in such a short log entry, and yet he had purposely left out certain things, certain thoughts. Two weeks on Earth, that was going to have to be his respite. After all they had seen and done in the last few months, he needed family as much as his crew.
