Lt Haversill smiles to herself when Kasm came into her lab. "Bonjour! Ola! Privet! nuqneH! Yhhau!" laughing to herself at Kasm's look of confusion, "don't mind me" stepping around the table "I have your new Universal Translator," handing it to him "I've connected it to ships computer so that it will constantly update the database."

Waving her hands she continues "I know, I know, you have issues with 'Human' words having different meanings from different people especially from different Not Humans. So I wrote an algorithm to take into account cultural, racial and planetary considerations so the more people you converse with the broader the translation in your UT."

Haversill was a chatterbox running at warp 2, Kasm couldn't get a word in edgewise. Accepting the new UT and clipping it to his collar it immediately syncs with the subdermal implants in his mastoid and cranial bones. At this point he could start understanding better what she was saying. Taking his old UT he crushes it between his thumb and forefinger like it was made of foil.

"WOW!" looking at the crushed UT "those are, like, indestructible! Wow your strong." Picking up the destroyed UT from the floor and rolling it around in her fingers. She bounces on her heals a bit and says "how's it work? Hmm? Tell me, how's it working?"

Kasm takes a breath and says "yes, I think I am understanding what you are saying." A look of surprise passes over his face as he glances down at his chest. "There are more words coming out of this device than there ever were from the old one. I thank you for doing this for me, I am in your debt"

A big grin covers Haversill's face. "I'd like to see you every week or so, or if you have issues with the UT, so that we can keep it properly tuned and ensure that the data translation is as fine tuned as possible."
