Posted on Thu Sep 24th, 2020 @ 2:11pm by Captain Shran dh'Klar

Mission: Return to Paradise
Location: Earth

Shran followed his old boss out of the large conference room where he and a few of his officers had reported and debriefed before several admirals and quickly found himself in a familiar area, the heart of Intelligence. Shran took note of the small changes, one of which he had suggested personally and grinned ever so slightly.

they turned the corner and a few moments later the reached the admiral's office. The admiral finally ended the silence once the door closed. "You mellowed a bit since you worked for me.

"Things are different now. I'm a starship captain. Change was inevitable" Shran replied drily.

The admiral nodded in agreement. "You haven't lost that fire, you just handle it better. I can appreciate that. Care for a drink?"

"Yes sir."

"No need for formality Shran. We are still friends, and this isn't an official meeting. Consider it just two old friends and colleagues getting together." The admiral turned and handed Shran a drink.

Shran rose his glass, "To friendship, and colleagues gone but not forgotten."

The admiral rose his glass and nodded. "Slainte!" The two downed their drinks.

"Irish whisky still your drink of choice" he said with a hint of joviality.

"I considered Andorian ale, but I suspect you will have your fill in the coming days. How long before you leave for Andoria?"

"As soon as I can return to the Washington. I am eager to return home for this visit."

"I'd imagine so. I want you to enjoy yourself. Command will likely have something for the Washington upon your return."

"More intel work?" questioned Shran.

"Not precisely. I'm sure Stonebridge will find something to occupy himself while you are on your mission."

"Romulans?"

"No. We need a veteran commander to review the Cardassian Zone. Command has been getting reports from Garak that worry a few, especially Security."

"Shadow works?"

"It has been advanced as a working theory. Not all in the military are happy with the civilian rule, or the Federation oversight. but that is something you can look into after your time back home."

"I'm grateful."

"Get outta here. Go see your family. We can discuss this further when you get back."

"Very well."
