The Colony

Mission:
Sabotage
Location: USS Washington
Shran looked at the monitors to see that Jon and the away team made it down to the planet. He hoped this simple meeting wouldn't have any unforeseen issues, but being this close to the Cardassian border made him feel otherwise was only a matter of time.
Dr Samantha Howard opened her eyes as the transporter beam released them, her standard away team medkit slung Over one shoulder, tricorder and phaser tucked snugly into their respective holsters on her hip. Hopefully they wouldn't be required but this region of space was never to be underestimated.
There was a small delegation waiting for them next to the transporter platform.
As the transporter beam faded away Jon looked around, saw Sam at his side and a small he assumed welcoming committee waiting for them. "Look, welcome wagon is already here." He whispered to Sam. Even as he checked the phaser on his hip.
" Looks like it " Sam quipped, making sure their resident Engineer Lt Fredrickson was ready. Sam stepped off the transporter platform and towards the greeting committee, a small selection of the usual dignitaries and well-to-do's.
Jon made small talk with members of the delegation as the away team moved off the transporter platform. Trying to get a feel for the situation despite what they had been briefed on.
" The Captain mentioned you had some Engineering stuff that needs looking at" Lt Fredrickson blurted, somewhat unused to the niceties of intersteller greetings.
The Governor regarded the young engineer with a raised eyebrow and a chuckle.
"I wish I was as young and keen as you my dear, old age and buerocracy had dampened my enthusiasm" he chuckled.
"Who what? Oh sorry I didn't mean for you to feel that way..I was just" Fredrickson stammered turning several shades redder than her normal complexion.
"It's fine my dear, but we do have some issues we have been unable to resolve on our own. Perhaps a quick tour before the work begins?" The Governor offered, extending a hand towards the open door and the sunny day outside.
"Commander, my understanding is that you have significant supplies ready for transport as well. We are looking forward to such things."
"Correct Governor." Jon said simply, Then tapped his combadge, "Grayson to Washington, begin transporting of supplies."
"Lieutenant, over in that building you will find the weather control system. It could certainly use a look over by your engineers. The colony defensive building is next door, and the shield generators and weapons array could use a look over as well."
"Of Course" Fredrickson replied, having had only a vague briefing as to exactly what was malfuctioning. She was excited to get her teeth into a problem and headed over to the building to get started leaving Sam torn. Should she stay with Grayson or make sure Fredrickson didn't get in over her head?
" Wait a sec!" Sam called, jogging the few paces to the bewildered engineer. " We don't split up the away team.. I don't want you wandering off on your own." She said quietly, "The repairs can wait a few moments until we can all go together"
"Certainly doctor. Nothing so urgent it can't wait" said the governor. "Perhaps you'd like to see our medical facilities? We have quite the hospital. It rivals the facilities you can find back on Earth and other core Federation worlds. We are quite proud."
"I'd be honoured to see your hospital and staff. I hear you have some groundbreaking techniques and research going on as well" Sam tried not to sound excited as she was. Poor Fredrickson looked a little deflated.
"Please will you accompany us Lieutenant - I believe the autoclave system system at the hospital has been 'glitchy'. Your most excellent engineering eyes will be very useful indeed" The Governor chuckled and pointed towards the imposing building not two streets away.
"If you'll all follow me" He said cordially.
Jon followed along. He felt very much like a third wheel. Sam had the hospital and medical equipment to look at and Fredrickson had engineering problems to tackle.
