Mission: Here There Be Dragons
Location: USS Washington

The Washington arrived at Draco IV and took up a high orbit. The ship immediately launched multiple probes to assist in data collection, and Deanna began the initial sensor scans. "Phlox will be quite happy" she noted as the first results came in,

"Report" Shran ordered.

"Detecting large veins of all ores we believed we would find, though the geological teams will still need to do their inspections and surveys" Deanna noted. "The Ferengi would indeed want to swarm this planet. Detecting two large lake sized pools of liquid latinum."

"I think I would leave that out of any reports we send just in case the message gets intercepted by the Ferengi. I wouldn't put anything past those greedy, big ears." Jon replied.

Shran offered a chuckle. "Not all Ferengi crave latinum, but your point is well received. The 7th Rule of Acquisition would seem to apply: Keep your ears open. The Ferengi always keep their ears open."

"Relaying information to Phlox. He is gathering personnel for their trip down to the planet" Deanna noted.

"Jon, have you decided on who you wish to accompany you with Deanna's team?"

Jon nodded, "Yes sir. I thought of adding Kate, she has good observational skills, Callie to help in getting any feelings of the environment and Phoenix. I'd take Geiger as well but I don't think there will be anything to repair."

"I don't think he'll mind a field trip" Shran said with a grin.

"Don't forget Kuzma" Deanna noted.

"Very well. Sounds like you have a full group. You should gather them up" Shran noted.

"Those green blooded..." Deanna began to say in a tone just above a whisper.

"Something you wanted to add Deanna?" Shran questioned.

"Myth no longer. Here, there be dragons" Deanna replied in an ominous voice, a wry grin on her face.

Shran's antennae sprung to life. "You aren't serious" he said almost instinctively.

Jon nodded, "Right Kuzma as well and now that the gangs all set we should get going." he stopped as Deanna mumbled something. "Oh nooooo! Really?" He asked though he already knew the answer by looking at Deanna's face.

"Detecting large creatures, several of them flying. We may even have different variants of the same species. I'd like to get down there immediately" Deanna said excitedly.

"Oh geez." Jon groaned at seeing Deanna's excitement. "She'll be like a kid in a candy store and no you can't bring one back to the ship."

"Always the fuddy duddy" Deanna said in faux disappointment as she crossed her arms in a huff.

"You two can work it out on your way down to the transporter room. I think Caliie can handle any mediation" Shran said with a grin. "We'll keep things in check here, keep you updated with any additional sensor data as it comes in."

Deanna activated another scan cycle before passing the station off to Ibarra. "Keep tabs on them all as best you can. I'll get more detailed scans on the surface to add into the zoological index."

Deanna made her way to the turbolift along with Jon and Callie. She was like a kid in a candy store at the moment, but you couldn't blame her. This was another discovery to put her into the Federation record books, not to mention the scientific community would be intrigued by this discovery. It was time to get down there and take a closer look.
