Mission:
Creatures of the Night
Location: Main Engineering
Timeline: During "Destroy that Ship"
Phoenix arrived outside of Main Engineering with his usual kit. Callahan, Tackleberry and Poole arrived moments later.
"Set your phasers to stun. We don't know what to expect but we need to go easy on whoever is doing this. They're likely possessed" James said seriously.
"Aye sir" the three junior officers said at the same time.
James, who was flanked by his team, walked through the sliding bulkheads into the engineering hall. He took a moment to gaze around. Something clearly wasn't right. It was quiet, which was to be expected since Aidan and Chief Geiger were both off ship. This was something different. It was downright eerie.
He turned to his team. "Stay frosty."
James didn't see anything out of the ordinary in the main hall by the core. "Tackleberry, Poole, clear the hall please. Callahan, on me. We're going to clear the computer core room. Nobody splits up."
Phoenix and Callahan entered the computer core annex and took in the sight.
A female engineer stood at the console of the computer core, angrily trying to enter commands.
Callahan took a step to the right, moving into a flanking position. The angle allowed the young junior lieutenant to get a view of who it was at the console, at least partially. "Ensign Lawrence, please step away from the console."
"Ensign Lawrence, that's a direct order" James warned sternly while he quietly confirmed that his phaser was on stun.
Lawrence continued to angrily work at the console, ignoring the security detail. Callahan took another step to the right, getting a better look at her. The look of Lawrence made it clear that something was wrong.
Callahan glanced over at Phoenix, "She isn't all their boss. It is her, but maybe some sort of telepathic control has her." The tall blonde security officer took a half step toward Lawrence, seeing if she could get close enough to get her away from the console without needing to fire.
Phoenix kept his phaser drawn but let Callahan do her thing. He wasn't sure about it, but it seemed to be the least dangerous thing for Ensign Lawrence. He was there to stun the latter if she tried to harm Callahan.
Callahan put her phaser back in her holster and then made her move. The second she put her hands on Lawrence, the young engineer shrugged her off with a strength no human could have. Lawrence sent an elbow into Callhan's midsection, followed by a roundhouse to the head that knocked her to the ground. The action was unanticipated, but no more than the vacant trance that was visibly over her, notably the vacant stare.
James fired on Lawrence without a second thought. It wasn't too high of a stun so she wouldn't be harmed, but it was high enough to stop her ideally. He slowly moved to the side, keeping his phaser trained on the officer, so he could use his spare hand to help Callahan up off of the ground.
Lawrence collapsed to the ground from the phaser strike. As Phoenix approached Callahan his comm beeped, =^=Bridge to Phoenix, we have regained control. Good work on whatever you did. =^=
