After the Debreif

Dr Sam Howard strolled out of the briefing room feeling accomplished if not satisfied with the outcome of the away mission. They'd seem a remarkable recovery effort from Ivor Prime since being decimated by the Borg, and the citizens were healthy, well, and very proud of their work. For once someone didn't require her skills as a doctor.

The shadow of a memory flitted through her mind as she headed back down to sickbay, causing her to pause for a moment and shake her head as though to cast it asunder before continuing. She didn't have time to dwell on the past, to contemplate things that could have been done differently or avoided completely.

" Just focus" she scolded herself, forcing her mind back to the task at hand. Ghosts of missions past were never far from her view and she was learning to deal with them as time progressed.

Focusing on the task at hand she had an away mission report to write for the Captain and she was going to make damned sure it wasn't late.

The doors of sickbay parted before her, the almost indeterminable hiss causing her well trained and alert staff to look towards them.

" You OK Boss? You look like you've seen a ghost" Her chief nurse quipped, taking a step forward in concern.

" I'm fine - an old memory caught me off guard. Carry on" Sam smiled reassuringly and headed towards her office to complete her report.
