A Moment of Rest

Mission:
Unto Darkness, Light
Location: USS Washington - Captain's Quarters
Shran sat down in his quarters in the corner near the window, an private nook of sorts he had created for himself there where he was able to sit and relax when time permitted. The stars whooshed by as he took a moment to look out the window before settling himself in the comfortable chair and taking a rather slow and satisfying gulp of his Andorian ale. He was treating himself after a successful first leg of this mission. Part of him wanted very much to finish the glass quickly and get another, but duty required him to deny his desire. He remembered briefly a conversation he had a decade or so ago with Admiral Carroll regarding temperance being a virtue, along with patience, two things the admiral at times lacked in any real capacity. The memory made him chuckle.
Taking another sip of the drink, he placed the glass down on the small table situated next to the chair and picked up the PADD. He reviewed the data, the multiple reports that he had requested. Each was thorough as he expected; Jon's was a model you'd see used as an example at the Academy, concise and informative. Estella and Samantha had both provided excellent reports as well, though some of it was a bit to technical for him, though he was certain the higher ups at StarFleet Medical would have no issues with it. Reviewing Sachzny's he could only smile. She put forth so much effort. Her report was exactly what he had come to expect, a magnificent tactical review, albeit longer than the the other reports combined. It was no matter. He knew it would be of interest to Command. He hit a button on the PADD and then set it down, picking up his glass and finishing the drink.
He stood up and looked out the window once more. Bellum III was less than a day away. Probe scans indicated it was a Class-M planet and uninhabited. It seemed like a perfectly routine place to go for a colony survey. But they were outside Federation space at this time, and something, he wasn't quite sure what, made him cautious. Somehow he was certain this survey mission was going to be anything but ordinary.
He walked to the replicator and placed the glass in it. Turning he walked slowly into his bedroom and got into bed. "Computer," he said softly, initiate sleep setting." The standard lights went out, replaced by a light blue hue that seemed to dance upon the whole room as the temperature dropped drastically to a comfortable (for an Andorian) 30 degrees Farenheit. Shran closed his eyes, drifting to sleep.
