Dr Sam Howard returned to her office, despite the stern look from Dr Perrin and the suggestion she rest following the mind meld. There was an urgency, a ticking clock that she had to find a solution for before Dex either went insane or died from not succeeding in negating the Pon Farr.

She pulled up all the research she could find, trying to coax her muddled mind into comIng up with something that would work.

Perrin appeared with a coffee and an analgesic, accompanied by a warning that she had a few hours at most before he would receive her of duty to rest.

Redoubling her efforts she focused on medical ways she could use to assist Dex's mind to become more suggestive to what the Holo program would offer. If the mind believed it, then the body would follow and the Pon Farr would be requited.

An hour or so into her research she came across a medical treatment that had been used once before but in a different context. The biological reaction in the Vulcan's brain had been what Sam had been looking for. A decrease in the rational centres and an increase in the emotional. Something that would lower Dex's logical mind in the safe confines of the holodeck.

Perrin appeared at her door again, a stern look in his eye.

"I get it...I'm leaving...I think I've found the solution and will talk with Dex in the morning" Sam said with a wry smile as she stood and stretched. She felt oddly awake, hyper aware and there was an anger that she couldn't quite put her finger on. How did Vulcan's do it? No wonder they needed years of training and constant meditations.
