Can we talk?

Posted on Thu Feb 3rd, 2022 @ 8:36pm by Captain Shran dh'Klar & Lieutenant Commander Callie Raven-Grayson

Mission: Respite
Location: Ready Room

After the way events in their quarters had turned out Callie wanted to speak to Shran alone. Having dropped off Harry at school she made her way to the bridge, and Shran’s ready room.
It didn’t take long before she was standing outside the door, pressing the chime she waited for a response.

Shran sat in his ready room looking over the details of everything that had been done by LeFaye and the engineering teams while he was gone. It was an impressive list. The ship was practically brand new after all of this. Another PaDD from Ayana informed him of everything she had done regarding the tactical systems, including reloading all the torpedo stores and refreshing all the phaser arrays. He was deep in thought going over all these items when the door chimed. He looked up, "Come."

Entering the ready room Callie smiled politely. “Good Morning Captain, May I talk to you?”

Shran stood up, "Please come in counselor" he said simply. "Do you require anything? A beverage perhaps?"

Callie offered a warm smile as she approached Shran’s desk. “A fruit juice would be lovely thank you, I don’t mind what variety.”

Shran walked over to the replicator, "One glass of grape juice, chilled." The replicator produced the beverage and Shran brought it over and sat it before Callie. "How can I help you today?"

Taking a seat she made herself comfortable. “I wanted to apologize for the misunderstanding in our quarters yesterday; Jon is very protective of me, especially after recent events.” She paused for a moment. “I’ll be honest we decided to start trying for a baby, but I wasn’t expecting it to happen straight away. Given that I’m still recovering I thought it would take at least a month or two, maybe more before I conceived.”

Shran nodded. "I gathered all of that. I hope I didn't give any negative implications. I am happy for you, for both of you, but we have a great deal going on, and sadly a good amount of it seems tied to you in some way. With the latest attack on Aiko and L'Rissa, I've just had a lot more on my mind."

Callie sighed. “So even though...T’Vall is gone he’s still causing trouble for us.” She picked up the grape juice and sipped it before putting it down again, and massaging her temples.

"You shouldn't feel at fault counselor. The fault lies with T'Vall and the Orion Syndicate. T'Vall paid with his life. The Orion Syndicate will soon come to find they overstepped as well."

Callie nodded. “Do the Orions know T’Vall is dead? If they don’t we may be able to use it to our advantage.” She paused.
“We could send them a message from T’Vall’s wife, fool them into thinking that he’s alive, or that she wants to muscle in on the action. It could be a chance to get our foot in the door, plus I wouldn’t need to leave the ship so no risk to me.”

"A worthwhile plan, but sadly the Orions are aware of T'Vall's demise. I think it is because of it they sent people after Aiko. What they may not be aware of is that the operative they sent was captured and is currently being interrogated. The admiral has promised new additional intel for us to use soon." Shran shifted a bit in his chair. "I want you to try not to think on this matter. You have been through a great deal and just need to rest and recuperate. I'd tell Jon the same thing if I thought he'd listen. He is a fine officer and XO, but the man is stubborn. He tries to take on the weight of the galaxy. Perhaps the two of you can work on that a bit while you both rest."

Callie nodded and grinned. “Jon has been that way for as long as I’ve known him. I’ll do what I can to convince him, but truth be told I’m as bad as he is!” She paused to sip her juice. “I can’t just sit around Captain, I need to be working, if only reduced hours. If I sit around our quarters I’ll go stir crazy thinking about everything!”

"I understand you have a need to work. See patients as you can, but don't push yourself. You are no good to me or anyone else if you relapse. I think Jon needs to realize this as well. I'll need him once we make our way into the heart of the orion Syndicate's territory." He shook his head, "It amazes me that such an organization could exist within the territory of the Federation. It is a testament to their cunning and resolve, but I plan on cutting off as many heads as we can when we arrive. You may wish to make sure Harry is prepared for when things start to get hectic here as well. I'd wager the Orion Syndicate will attempt to stop us."

Callie nodded. “Of course, it’ll be as much of an upheaval for him as it will for me. I’ve never had to worry about the safety of a child whilst facing dangerous territory before. I won’t let you down, and I won’t overdo it either.”

"Very well. Anything else?" he questioned.

“No Sir” Callie offered a polite smile before finishing her drink. “I’ll let you get on with your work.” She stood ready to leave.
