A Conversation

Mission:
Damn Dirty Apes
Location: USS Washington
Shran was looking over the data that was coming in from the away team being on the planet. The EM field was particularly powerful in certain areas, and they had been unable to contact Jon and Ayana. But so far, Sam reported no issues on the planet as they began searching for them.
Arriving on the bridge Callie made her way across to Shran. “Excuse me Captain, how is the search going? Are we any closer to rescuing Jon and Ayana?”
"The away team has just transported down and is sending in initial information. So far, they haven't located them. They are heading towards the direction they believe they may have traveled from their last known location" Shran replied.
Callie nodded. “I have faith in Jon, I can feel him in here.,.” she placed her hand over her heart. “If anything happened to him, I’d feel it. Besides I’ve no doubt he and Ayana are working like a well-oiled machine.” She offered a smile albeit a worried one.
"Don't fret Callie. I'm sure Ayana is keeping him safe. And Jon is quite capable in his own right. We will get them both back, I promise you" Shran replied in a confident and consoling tone.
Callie nodded. “Thank you, Sir. The hardest part of all this was explaining it to Harry, even though I’m a Counsellor it was harder than I expected.” She paused. “Do we have any idea how this civilization came to be?”
Shran shook his head. "No clue. It is a genuine mystery. My understanding is you have both humans and humanized apes down there, and the limited information Sam gathered says both are from Earth. How that is possible naturally is a mystery. I'd say they have to be transplanted here, but that is speculation. We might solve the mystery, but I want to get our people back first."
Callie nodded. “Of course. Is there anything I can do? I feel like a fish of out of water right now with Jon missing.”
"I understand how you feel. Very little to do at this point for either of us. When the away team reports in, assuming they can, I'll let you know. In the meantime, you are welcome to stay here and wait with me, unless you have other duties."
Callie shook her head. “I’m not busy right now, I’d like to wait with you while I have the chance. At least that way I might be of some use, my bond with Jon might come in useful.”
"By all means. I'd be happy to have you on the bridge" Shran replied. He made his way back down to his command chair and waited impatiently for some sort of update.
