Location: Jon & Callie's Quarters
Timeline: After A Surprise for the Family

Jon was lying in bed when suddenly he had a thought. A thought so wonderful it brought a smile to his face. "Callie!" he called to his wife, wishing to share his thought with her and get her opinion on it.

“Sweetheart?” Callie heard Jon’s call from the living room, concerned something was wrong she quickly rushed to him. “I thought something was wrong” she smiled more relaxed as she saw the smile on his face.

Jon motioned her over to the bed. "Sit, sit. I have an idea but I want your opinion on it." He said excitedly. He took a breath and looked at her. "How do you feel about us getting a pet?"

“A pet?” Callie gave Jon a curious look. “What type of pet are you suggesting?”

"Well, not a gorilla or a chimp. I can tell you that!" Jon said and started laughing, which started him coughing which in turn started his throat to hurt. He sipped some water and the cough subsided. "Nor a snake or any lizards or spiders." He replied when he could talk.

“How’s about a cat? I know some people have cats aboard ships. Either that or maybe a dog?” She was actually getting into the whole idea now.

Jon decided to tease Callie. "Um, I was thinking of an alligator. You know? We cut his tail off and paint it brown and people will think it's an ugly dog." He said with a straight face.

“Ohh is that so?” Callie gave a straight faced look. “I was thinking more along the lines of something with a lot less teeth.”

Jon chuckled at Callie's reply. "Well played Callie. Yes, something with a lot less teeth is much more preferable."
Jon replied. You mentioned a cat. A cat is good but I want a cat, like a Maine Coon Cat or a Norwegian Forest Cat."

“Now there’s one I can agree with!” Callie nodded in agreement. “A Maine Coon sounds wonderful to me, I think Harry would love that.”

Jon nodded in agreement. "I agree Callie. I think a Maine Coon would be perfect and Harry would love it. We'll have to check where we can get one." He smiled at her, "I think this will be great for all of us."

Callie nodded. “I never had a pet before, I would love a cat though. I always had to love my friends pets when I was a kid.”

"Then it is decided we will get a Maine Coon cat and you can have a pet of your own to love Calle." Jon said with a grin. "This is going to be so great."

“You bet! We’ll need to go shopping for the things we need. A large litter box, food dishes, a pet bed or two, toys, large scratch posts, and a very large cat tree! You know me I love shopping!”

Jon chucked and smiled as Callie ran off a shopping list of items, they need to get for the cat they hadn't even gotten yet. "I know you do Callie. Perhaps while we're shopping, we can get one or two items for you as well."

“Now that I’d love!” Callie nodded. “I really need to get some suitable maternity wear, something pretty for when I look like a baby space whale!”

"Callie, my love you will never look like a baby space whale. You are far too beautiful for that. Perhaps while we are out shopping, we can have a nice romantic dinner as well?" Jon proposed.

Callie smiled and moved to cuddle up on the bed with Jon. “That sounds wonderful. Nothing would make me happier.”

Jon held her close. "I love it when a plan comes together."
