Returned to the Ship

Posted on Sun Nov 12th, 2023 @ 4:09pm by Captain Shran dh'Klar & Lieutenant Inara Senn & Lieutenant Wyatt Steele & Lieutenant JG Vienna Steele

Mission: Damn Dirty Apes
Location: USS Washington, Transporter Room
Timeline: Current

Inara beamed onto the Washington and noticed the captain.

"Mission Complete, Skipper. Though I have to tell you, we found a hell of something down there. The people who came to this planet had a loose understand of morality when it came to science." She noted. "When the primate population revolted down there, some scientist sabotaged the planet's core, using some kind of facility that they initially used along with some kind of plasma infusion shaft to send the planet's core spinning in the opposite direction of the planet's rotation which created that EM maelstrom." Inara noted. "The last researcher down there wanted to prevent the 'damn dirty apes' from developing any advanced technology, which that EM maelstrom would have prevented. No computers, no technology, no warp drive." Inara mentioned. "No potential for an advanced society."

"That makes sense, based on the initial intel provided by Lt Cmdr Celes and the rest of the away team. They've transported up after rescuing our missing personnel and making a diplomatic connection with the ruling body of the apes. These apes are from Earth, the result of Eugenics era madness. A debriefing is set for 0900 tomorrow" Shran replied calmly. He looked over at Wyatt and Vi, "You two look no worse for wear. I trust everything went well down there, no surprises."

“Apart from meeting an elderly ape who didn’t want to kill us” Vienna smiled. “No surprises Sir.”

"Yes, Deanna reported that they too encountered apes that were friendly. It seems their society is in for a rather large revelation, one typically reserved for first contact. In this case, it is coming a bit sooner than expected" Shran admitted.

"Vi is right Captain. No surprises." Wyatt replied succinctly.

"Here Captain, put this under guard." She handed the Zero Point Module to the captain. "It's revolutionary, even for twenty-second century technology. Very efficient, even more so than our warp cores, but also very dangerous. We may need it again in a thousand years to jumpstart their planet's core, and hopefully by that time, they'll have united with their human distant cousins. Be very careful with that. In layman's terms, it's a miniature black hole with enough energy to power sixteen Sovereign Class Starships." Inara mentioned as she handed the module over.

Shran looked at the module. "So, a warpcore of sorts, similar to that the Romulans use. I'm sure this will interest StarFleet Engineering."

“Starfleet Intelligence too” Vienna looked at the module. “Are things like that really worth the trouble they cause? I can’t say I think so.”

"Outside some sort of means of eternal life I would suggest that no technology is really worth the trouble they cause us lieutenant. But such technology can help to create a better life as much as it might be destructive, so we study it in hopes that we make it for the positive outcome rather than the negative. It is in the end all we can do" Shran replied to Vi philosophically.

“Of course, Sir” Vi nodded.

Wyatt simply nodded his reply.

Inara spoke. "Hmm... There's one thing that is bothering me about this." She noted. "We're holding an incredible technological breakthrough, that was probably developed on Earth as experimental technology, and it ended up here. Something revolutionary for even Twenty-first to Twenty-second century technology. Something that is dangerous even today. I wonder... Dr. Jeremiah Allan Singh... The surname is definitely not lost on me. The Singh family has a very disturbing history of loose Scientific Morals." Inara noted. "After listening to his tirade, I can't help but to feel there is infamy that has outlived him."

Shran nodded. "Agreed lieutenant. Considering that the other aspects of this technology came from a dangerous period in Earth history, one can't help but wonder what other terrible marvels might lurk out here amongst the stars. By all means, if your scientific curiosity requires it, you may study this technology and look into Singh further. We'll remain in orbit for a bit longer, at least until after the debriefing tomorrow." Shran turned and exited. This planet had held a great many mysteries, he was certain that StarFleet would be sending a great many vessels to study things here further.
