Mission:
Man & Machine
Location: Jon & Callie's Quarters
Timeline: After Contact
Jon had just received orders he and Deanna were headed back to the planet's surface to be forward spotters for the runabouts as they made their attack runs on the machine bases. He wanted to tell Callie rather than her hearing through the ship's grapevine.
He arrived at their quarters and was relieved to find Callie hadn't gotten home yet. So, he fixed her a nice salad and a fruit drink and he settled down to wait for her.
Walking in the door Callie immediately sensed Jon’s presence, no sooner had she walked in the door she moved quickly across, and practically flung her arms around him giving him a loving kiss. “You’re back! I was so worried about you!”
Jon's arms came up and around Callie, holding her close as he returned her passionate kiss. "I'm back but only for a bit. Deanna and I are going back to the planet to be spotters for the runabouts in their attack on machine targets." He explained.
“You’re going back so soon?” Callie didn’t like the sound of that, maybe it was being pregnant but she felt insecure without Jon. “I can’t say I like it.”
"I'm not wild about it Callie but we can help these people and free them from this terrible war." Jon replied.
Callie nodded. “I know, we have to help them but I just wish I was there with you instead of being stuck here! It’s so hard being the one left behind not knowing what’s going on.”
"Callie, I wish you were there with me as well. However you are pregnant and we don't want to endanger you or the babies. I'm sorry for adding to your stress darling. I'll only be gone a short time, I promise."
Callie nodded. “I know I’m supposed to be detached, to act in a professional manner but right now I’m finding that hard to do.”
Jon nodded in understanding, "Callie it is alright to feel like you do. Frankly I'd worried if you were detached and had no emotions. The key is not to let your emotions take control which at times is hard to do."
“Right now it’s very hard to do” Callie offered a melancholy smile. “My hormones are all over the place thanks to being pregnant, plus Harry worries about you as well. I have to reassure him that his daddy will be back.”
Jon nodded, " I hate putting you and Harry through this Callie. Neither of you need the added stress but I have to do this. Deanna will be with me and I'll be back soon."
Callie nodded. “I know you will Imzadi, Actually...” she paused and moved to stand up. “Wait right there.” She headed into the bedroom returning a couple of minutes later. “Take this..” she handed him a St Christopher medal on a chain. “St Christopher, the Human patron saint of travellers I believe. I’ve had it a while but I want you to take it, to protect you and bring you back to me.”
Jon took the medallion and slipped it over his head and around his neck. Before tucking it under his tunic. "I know it will protect me Callie and thank your for your thoughtfulness." He paused as an awkward silence filled the air. "I should get going. So Deanna and I are in position for the attacks begin." Then he leaned in kissed her tenderly and hugged her tightly. "Keep a light on for me." he whispered.
Callie returned his kiss with all the love in her heart. “I will Imzadi, I’ll be here waiting for you that’s a promise!”
