Jon was in his ready room, he was thinking of having to deal with Mirror Shran again and he wanted Imik's input on making sure security was at its highest with no loopholes or weaknesses in it. He tapped his combadge. "Grayson to Imik. Imik can you come by my ready room when you have a chance?"
On hearing Jon's request for her to report to him, she handed her console over to a junior Security Officer. "Imik to Grayson, I am on my way." She hurried along the corridor and approached his ready room, pressing the chime she waited to called in.
Hearing the chime sound on the door, Jon called out "Enter!" and stood behind his desk, pushing some PaDDS to one side to await Imik's entrance into the office.
Bowing as she entered, Imik spoke quietly to Jon. "Blessings on your house and vessel, I am honoured to be in your presence."
Jon bowed and returned the blessing "Blessings to you and your house Imik. It is I who am honored by your presence. Would you care for a chocolate milkshake?" He asked with a smile.
A wide smile now appeared on Imik's face, "Would the Tarkalian flea care for a bald canine or a hairy one?" She turned to face Jon, "The question is as we both know, irrelevant. My weakness is a simple chocolate milkshake, I thank you for that and yes I would care deeply for a chocolate milkshake."
Jon chuckled at her statement, "Have a seat Imik, two milkshakes coming right up. A chocolate for you and vanilla for me." As he walked over the replicator to get them. A moment later he was handing her a chocolate milkshake "One chocolate milkshake." He stated with a smile as he moved to sit behind his desk with a vanilla milkshake in his hand.
Taking her milkshake, Imik now looked up at Jon. "Something bothers you? Something which needs closure?" She sipped her milkshake then continued, "If I can assist you in anyway, please allow me to do so."
"Very perceptive. I am ....concerned we are going to face mirror Shran again and I fear he has other mirrors with him." He looked across the desk at Imik. "He is evil incarnate Imik and I want security at it highest level as I don't want anyone to suffer like Sam and I did."
Imik nodded as Jon spoke, she to had reason to want the Mirror alien secured. "I had him once, I shall have him again. Only this time neither he nor his subjects shall escape a second time, on this I will ensure you. No one shall enter the Secure Area of the brig without first passing my inspection, and I need only suspect trickery or malice and they will join the villains with in."
Jon nodded as Imik spoke, he saw and heard her grim determination to capture and hold the Mirror Shran as well as any of his followers. "I have absolute faith in what you say Imik as well in your abilities to carry out what you say. I trust you completely."
"But we have a problem in securing the mirror aliens, because they simply look the same as our regular crew." Imik now took another sip of her milkshake, then continued. "Unless we can without doubt know who is who, our chances of success will wither and vanish."
"All true which is why we will do the best we can and trust in ourselves and our crew mates." Jon replied evenly with a determined tone.
Looking at Jon, Imik now made a strange request. "Could we not ensure our success by marking our crew in some way? One which the aliens would find difficult to replicate?"
"I am open to suggestions." Jon replied, "Of course another matter is how involved this marking is and how long it takes as time is of the essence."
"I have no answer to that question, my people have not faced this situation as far as I know. Ojnas are linked, thus we are aware of who is one of us and who is not." Imik sat and contemplated the problem but could find no suitable response.
"And I know you and Sachzny So, we have that going for us. Along with the fact you know the bridge crew." He joked weakly. "I'm sure we'll come up with something." He offered.
Imik smiled weakly, "Knowing someone is very different from being linked to someone, as you are very aware because of Sachzny. If I were linked to this crew as Ojnas crews are, then these mirror aliens would pose no problem to us."
"All very true my friend. Point is I trust you completely just as I do Sachzny. As for being linked to the crew. It would be nice especially in a situation like this." Jon repled.
Imik now looked at Jon with a grin on her face, "An Ojnas crew, that is how we defeat them. Or should I say an Ojnas security team, we simply stun those we encounter. Our own people will succumb, but the mirror aliens will resist thus exposing themselves." She suddenly stopped herself, "But alas there are no Ojnas vessels close to us, the closest is over 72 earth hours away."
"That is a good plan." Jon admitted "Unfortunately we don't have 72 hours to wait for them to arrive. I wonder though if we could set up a false echo letting the mirrors think is much closer than it actually is."
"I fail to see how the Ojnas vessel's location, could be used to affect the mirror aliens. My people in both universes oppose the Terran Empire, but unless the two engage in combat neither side concerns its self with the other." Imik knew that Jon had some idea in mind, but for now she couldn't see it.
"Because we fake transmissions from them to let the mirrors think help is not only coming but coming quickly." Jon replied. "Do you think it would work?"
Imik sat and thought about it, "It could be done, but it might involve me having to be in a separate location responding to communication from Washington. A shuttle under the main hull secured to the ship could be used, but would the Sinkahue want the Chief of Security in a shuttle broadcasting false communications. Or would he want his Chief of Security doing her job of apprehending the mirror aliens?" She already knew the answer, but her ship needed every advantage they could get. And just maybe Jon's idea might give them that advantage, it would be Shran's call as the Washington was his command.
"You know the answer to that just as I do Imik. The Captain will want every edge he can get going into this however, we need to bring this to his attention and get his opinion on the plan." Jon replied.
"Do you wish to bring this subject to his table? Or do you wish me to join you in that endeavour?" Imik herself wanted to engage the aliens, but the Sinkahue had the final say on what her duties would be.
"I think it would be best if we present this to the captain together Imik." Jon replied seriously.
Standing up, Imik bowed. "As you wish, when should we present our plan to the Sinahue?" She placed her empty glass on the replicator and turned back to Jon for an answer, time was slipping away and things needed to be done quickly.
"As soon as possible Imik. Time is a precious commodity and we cannot afford to waste it." Jon replied the Washington security chief and his close friend.
Pointing to the door, Imik simply said. "Then let us present it now, the mirror aliens will not take prisoners once they attack. Violence and sadism is all they know and all they practice, we must eliminate that threat quickly and permanently."
Jon nodded and stood up. "Let's go, we don't have a minute to lose."
