Mission:
Wounds From the Mirror
Location: USS Washington
Viviana continued working in sickbay. She had been working for nearly five hours nonstop, but thankfully Dr. Perim had arrived with a security entourage to help stem the tide. The EMH was efficient, but she understood why Dr. Howard had such a dislike for the program. She wasn't particularly personable at the moment. Eislyn had come in with Kate and Ben a few hours earlier and she had to try to treat Eislyn, but sadly she had died. It was the first time Viviana had ever lost a patient, and she was dwelling on it despite trying to save everyone else she treated, which wasn't easy with all the battle wounds.
The doors slid open to reveal Lieutenant Phoenix, who was helping Ensign Kasm into sickbay. He looked behind him to make sure nobody followed him. "I've got a patient for you doc" he said, implying Kasm. "What happened here?"
Viviana walked over and looked at Phoenix, then looked at Kasm. She could see he was injured, but if she were being honest, she had never seen one of his species before. She opened her tricorder and began scanning while answering Phoenix, "It would appear that we have been boarded. They hit sickbay. Dr. Dex and Tarja were on duty. I can't say with certainty what has become of them. The boarders killed Amethyst and left her body for us to find. Once security got me down here, I took charge until Dr. Perim arrived. Between Perim, myself, and the EMH, we are doing what we can to tend to everyone." It was obvious that Viviana was nearing a breaking point emotionally, but she pushed forward.
Viviana takes out a medical tricorder to scan Kasm's wounds, the tricorder immediately beeps and stops its scan. Looking at the screen she sees there is a special notification that needed to be reviewed in Kasm's ships records.
Stepping over to a console she pulled up Kasm's records and saw there was an alert attached to his file as well as a reference to a secured storage drawer in the medical center. Reviewing the special alert, she turned a bit green as apparently the Pandoran's physiology is imbued with traces of dilithium, not only in their blood, but also in their body's tissues. The alert also includes a warning about what types of energy fields not to subject their bodies to, to prevent accidental amplification or focusing of those energies. As well as a release for the medical tricorder after the file had been reviewed and signed off on by the medical personnel. There is also notes on the Pandoran's level of medical technology, which is at the level of 1940's Earth.
The secured drawer includes ampules of medication specifically developed by Starfleet medical to treat a number of issues for the Pandoran's. Including special pain killers and antibiotics. Most all can by synthesized by the ship's medical replicators.
Phoenix saw her expression after reading Kasm's file "what??"
Viviana replied, "Our little friend here has some interesting easter eggs." She looked at Kasm, "You have an interesting physiology ensign. You aren't too bad. I can patch you up fairly quickly, just a little work with the dermal regenerator. Are you in much pain? I can give you something if you are."
"Pain does not matter, protecting the consortium is the only thing that matters." Looking around at the chaos in the medical center, "put a" what translates out to 'bandage on me, and I will continue my duty"
Removing his uniform shirt requires her to cut the cloth around the shoulder wound as it was melted into the wound. In the process she sees the small hand carved dilithium pendant hanging around his neck.
Viviana injected Kasm with a simple analgesic that also included an antibiotic to deal with the potential infection. "I know this isn't something you'll be used to ensign, but it will rapidly increase the healing process. I understand I can't use the dermal regenerator on you, but the file on you says nothing about dermaline gel." She gently placed the gel on the wounds, and they began to close and heal. "You see, all better. You are fit to return to duty ensign."
James thought for a moment. Sickbay had already been hit badly. and while there was security already here, they would still need some help. He turned to Kasm. "Ensign, I'd like you to remain in sickbay for the time being. I think they could use your help."
Kasm says "I will fulfill this task" and places himself in front of the doors to block any hostile entry into the sickbay area.
His logic was that Kasm's brute strength could help hold off any enemies from entering through sickbay doors. He turned to Viviana. "Where's Doctor Howard?"
"I wish I could tell you, but I don't know. I do appreciate you having Kasm remain here. I don't want us to be without security should the intruders come this way again" Viviana replied. "If you'll excuse me, I have more patients I have to tend to."
