Intel has its prevledges:

Stonebridge did as his evaluator had instructed him to do. And by the morning he was ready to leave. With his one small bag over his shoulder, he headed for the transport.

As he continued his walk to the transport. He was joined by other men and women dressed in a similar manner. Each time a new member joined him they would greet him. As he kept walking.

“Morning sir. Smith support team, it’s good to meet you. “ never braking stride.

“Morning sir. Johnson, infiltration team. My pleasure.” Said the man as he slung his bag and fell in line.

Stonebridge nodded his head and kept pace.

“Morning Sir. Jeffries Miles and Davis. Your mission support team.” And they fell in with the rest. By the time they reached the beam out point, Stonebridge had a 15 man team ready to head to the USS Washington with him.

Stonebridge called back to his support team, who if they were worth there salt should have a report for him.

“Jeffries report.” Ordered Stonebridge

“Sir, the command codes to the cargo bay are yours. I’ve arranged rooms on the Star Base for us and an office for you until we are picked up three levels above the Promenade. The Command staff of the Star Base do not know who we are. Following our cover story. Miners on vacation. Everybody will be instructed to put on civvies before we leave the transport. “

“Well done.” Replied Stonebridge

Once they reached the transporter padd, Stonebridge stopped turned and look at his new team. “Pair up. And not with someone you know. Until we get where we are going, radio silence and the buddy system. We eat together we sleep together and we Shit together. You sobby?” He asked and in unison a monotone “Aye aye sir. “ was all he heard.

Then he looked at the transporter chief and gave a nod. As soon as they reached the transport they segregated themselves from all other passengers. And they travelled in a cargo hold which was switched off from the rest of the freighter. This was a precaution that Stonebridge had used before. Very few people had seen them and that’s just how he liked it.

If all went well, they would be dropped off at a Star Base. And soon after, the Washington would pick them up. Until then, they were on leave as their cover from a mining operation.

Five days later:

A runner came to the cargo bay. The team had posted a sentry who received the message and gave it to Stonebridge.

“Chief, we have reach our destination. We will disembark in half and hour. “ announced the team leader.

“Ok boys and girls. Pack quick and leave no trace we were ever here. “ ordered Stonebridge as he produced a half smoked Cohiba from a pocket and lit it. Filling a section of the cargo bay with the rich smell of a very good cigar.

Within minutes they were ready. All in civilian clothing and paired up as ordered. The only one in anything resembling a uniform was The Lt. In charge.

Following protocol each bag would be checked by security as they came aboard. With only station security aware of the team’s presence, they would see what they were told to see as the team would disappear into the crowds.

This was home until their new home came to get them.
