The Borg...still quite possibly our most dangerous adversary. Even with the upgraded weapons and defensive systems brought to us by Admiral Janeway from her time in the delta Quadrant, the ship and crew is still at risk. Perhaps because we do not use the upgrades to their fullest extent, and perhaps also because I think humans do not take the Borg as seriously as perhaps they should.

We encountered the Borg on our survey mission. The planet was rich in neutronium and I made the tactical decision that we could not allow such a resource to fall into Borg hands without a fight. While Janeway weakened them, that was a nearly a decade ago and their incursion into territory so close to Federation space cannot be left unanswered. While we were outnumbered, I felt we would be victorious.

We eliminated 3 spheres, two cubes, and a tactical cube without much issue. A Borg scout vessel had been launched to the planet in a new Borg tactic that had them dealing with the neutronium. We eventually engaged it as well, and encountered unforeseen issues. They captured Commander Grayson and assimilated him, choosing to convert him into a new speaker, similar to Picard. I too was momentarily captured, but my crew managed to rescue us both without much issue.

As it stands now the Borg scout is disabled and I plan to destroy it once Dr. Howard reports back from sickbay about Grayson. She has the difficult job of bringing him back from assimilation. We will need to have a layover at a starbase after all of this. Never a dull moment it would seem.
