Mission:
Wild Wild West
Location: USS Washington
With the alien vessel now safely back in space, Shran waited in the transporter room for Sam and others to beam back over and get a report. Inara had been beamed over to sickbay, as had several others, and Shran had been informed that they had had two casualties. The transporter activated and the pad lit up with a full group. As they materialized, Shran noted Sam, Phoenix, Ashlynn, and a trio of engineers carrying specimen cases. "What exactly have you brought back Sam?"
Ashlynn pulled up the star chart that she found in the crashed ship's computer on her PADD. She stepped off of the transporter pad and waited for Sam to answer the captain.
James stepped off the pad and stood next to her. "You good?" he whispered. He had focused so much of his time protecting the Doctor that he hadn't really had the chance to interact with Ash on the crashed ship all that much. He wasn't worried. He knew she could take care of herself.
Ash looked at James and gave a reassuring smile before turning her attention towards the Doctor and Captain. She was alright.
"A whole heap of questions and a couple of specimen containers" Sam quipped as she answered the captain's question. "We found a very advanced ship, and a very angry energy being that tried to eat us for breakfast."
"We also found evidence that the ship wasn't in the time or place it was supposed to be. The date in the ship's computer was from 1885" James added as he looked towards Ash.
"I also found a star chart that contained a spatial anomaly that appeared to be similar to the one that the Doctor found" Ashlynn added onto what James said. "I was going to take that into astrometric and stellar cartography to cross reference it with our most up to date star charts to get an idea where it may be."
"An advanced ship, energy being, potential temporal disturbance, and interesting materials to look into. Sounds like you had yourself an adventure Sam" Shran noted. "I assume as it tried to have you for breakfast, you informed it that your coffee was off limits" the Andorian quipped.
Phoenix decided to let Sam answer that as she had been the senior officer in that engagement, and because of the fact that he hadn't actually done all that much to down the energy being. That had been primarily Sam, Aidan, and Inara. He knew it was nothing personal, they had just gotten to it before him. Though he wasn't happy with his reaction time, however he was being overcritical of himself. He remained silent, opting to scan over his own reports one more time as he reflected on the mission.
"My coffee is always off limits" Sam laughed before taking a more somber tone. "Everyone performed admirably despite the difficult situation. I'll prepare notifications for the deceased for you as soon as I do their postmortem medical" The fact she had lost people stung hard, despite there being little she could have done to prevent their demise.
"I assume whatever you brought back in those containers is to be analyzed as well. I look forward to hearing more. I'll be on the bridge if you need me. Jon's away team has reported some interesting tidbits, even more so with what you are reporting" Shran replied. He looked to Ash, "I'll want that data analyzed quickly. It may prove relevant to what the other away team is dealing with."
Ash nodded. "Yes sir" she said, accepting the order.
"What do you need from security at this moment sir?" Phoenix asked the captain.
"Until we pass off that ship, you are still in charge of keeping it secure. Seeing as Aidan remained over there, I am sure he would appreciate you keeping him and his people safe."
"I'll get right to it sir" James said professionally.
"If you have nothing further Captain, I need to begin Inara's treatment. What I could do for her on the planet was a stop gap at best" Sam nodded out of respect to the captain.
"I'm sure you'll put Humpty Dumpty back together again. Sadly, this incident will only make her that much saltier. I apologize you'll have to deal with that" Shran said with a smile.
"Salt I can deal with, if anyone has enough energy to throw the sass and the salt, they're well and truly not dying" Sam laughed as she headed towards the door. "Bodies I can heal, attitudes, that's above my pay grade."
"Keep that in mind the next time my physical comes due" Shran quipped back as he exited the transporter room with her.
