"Excellent Rodriguez, now lift the safety latch and the filter is released and can be pulled." Aaron said, guiding Crewman Rodriguez through the Biofilter exchange process outside Holosuite 1. "Now, Crewman Johnson can put the new one in. Gently now, the edges are fragile." Aaron lightly slapped the bulkhead in approval as they continued along the sequence of replacement.
Beside Aaron and the crewmen stood a tall stack of fresh Biofilters and a growing stack of used ones. The latter giving off the faintest smell of heat and ozone. As he set another used filter onto the stack Aaron noticed the XO walking through the corridor.
"Good Morning Commander. If you're looking to use the holodeck, give us just a few more minutes. We'll be done shortly." Aaron said with a smile, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead.
Jon stopped his walk and looked to Aaron, "Good morning Chief." He replied pleasantly. "Not using the holodeck. Though I thank you for the info." His eyes drifted to the stack of biofilters, "Looks like you have a job though."
"That we do sir. Installing new biofilters in every single holosuite by end of day." Aaron heaved another filter and handed it off to Crewman Johnson for install, smiling insufferably. "And sir, it happens to coincide with an absolute favorite holiday of mine; Transporter Appreciation Day." The two crewmen groaned at that last
Jon smiled, "Seems your assistants don't share your appreciation for the holiday Chief."
"By the end of the shift I'm sure I will have changed their minds. Creating memories lugging the filters by hand through the ship." Aaron replied jovially, eyes glancing back to the two crewmen to ensure they were focused on their work. "I appreciate you and the LT letting me handle this sir. They're good crewmen, just young and hot-headed."
"You are welcome Chief." Jon replied as he looked at the two crewman. "As for being good crewmen, glad to hear it. Now they need to be responsible crewmen and learn from the error of their ways."
Aaron looked back to the two continuing to work. "That we can work with sir." Johnson dropped a filter, resulting in a cloud of debris launching towards Rodriguez, coating him in the particles. "If you'll excuse me Commander." The Chief said deferentially. "Alright, if you scholars are done playing around we can get this done. Let's move!"
Jon watched as Aaron shouted at the two crewmen. "If your charges need additional motivation to see their error, send them to me. I have several jobs they can get totally involved in."
"Aye Commander!" Aaron called back as he heaved a case over his own shoulder, nudging the crewmen into motion. "Lift with your legs Johnson, I don't feel like explaining to the Doctor that you injured yourself pulling a case of filters like you were starting an ancient lawnmower"
