Mission: The Shuttle Incident
Location: USS Washington/Planet

Deanna held the line against the frenzied people, allowing Sam time to work on her treatment. Suddenly four security officers materialized with several large containers marked "medical supplies." Deanna let out a sigh of relief, "Sam, our relief has finally arrived with your supplies."

Sam dared to look up from her work, breathing a sigh of relief as the doctor she had treated earlier stood from his chair, the colour having returned to his features.

"You have worked a miracle" He said simply.

"Not a miracle, medical science. The miracle is going to be distributing it to everyone before their disease kills them" Sam replied as the security officers wrangled the ill into a line. Popping open one of the crates Sam saw a hypo - and what would be over a hundred multidose canisters of the remedy she had concocted, enough to treat everyone in the hospital.

"Now - the fun part. Deanna, grab one of these and work down this line - I'll do the other. You should get around 10 doses out of a canister" Sam tossed her one of the hypos from one crate and took the other for herself.

Deanna looked over at the crates. "Beats me having to hold people off at phaser point."

"Ain't that the truth" Sam retorted as the security team ordered the throng of people into several lines. With practiced ease Sam worked her way down the longest line, neatly injecting them all in the neck. Finally, they were making headway.

"Once we get through this, we may be able to administer the vaccine via a gaseous delivery system in the atmosphere and treat the rest of the population.

Deanna began injecting her line. "If we try that, you'll want to do it before I order for radiation treatment to eliminate the disease from the plant life. And we'll need to determine if this treatment of yours will work with the animal life. Going to take some time to fully correct this biosphere. I think having the treatment in place is the important part Sam. You can leave something for the Fleming to handle" she said with a chuckle.

"When they get here" Sam scoffed as they worked through the throng of people. Within an hour the medical supplies were exhausted and so were the away team.

"We have returned to high orbit or the planet" L'Rissa purred.

"Initiating transport" Kuzma announced.

"Excellent work everyone." Jon replied. "Conserve power where we can and concentrate repairs on sensors and shields. We're going to need sensors at 100 percent when set out to find the captain and the rest of the team with him."

"Is it feasible for us to go now? The Fleming will be here in a few days" Kuzma asked.

Jon shook his head, "Patience Ensign, we're not leaving Sam and the others. They may need us and what's this about the Fleming being here in a few days? Last update I received said the Fleming was 26 hours away, less now. Has something changed?"

"Commander, I must report that the portside sensor array is only operating at 30 percent, our shields are at 80 percent. Our weapons are down thus leaving us exposed should another alien vessel appear; I would urge caution in any ship maneuver towards finding the Sinkahue." Imik looked at Jon while holding her arm, although finding Shran would be a priority doing it at this time may end in failure.

Jon silently accepted the damage report from Imik when she finished, he asked her, "What's the repair estimate on having at least phasers operational?" He then added "What's wrong with your arm? Then without waiting for her to reply he added, "Get a doctor to look at it Imik... now."

The medics were on the bridge now tending to Ibarra. "Nothing to worry about commander. We will take her to sickbay get her cleared." He looked over at Imik, "I can take a look at your arm if you like."

Kuzma looked flustered. "I'm sorry sir. I just...the captain requested me for this assignment after my training assignment here, and Viviana is with him as well. I can lock it in."

And now a problem arose, Imik was Ojnas and any medical treatment was handled in private. But a political situation had caused her to turn her back on her people, Federation people simply accepted medical help anywhere anytime. Biting her bottom lip she simply nodded and held the arm out slightly. With luck she would cope with the embarrassment, the arm was beginning to hurt more and more almost as if she had broken it. "Commander, I am sorry I have placed myself in this situation. I will attempt to improve my service and carry out my duty."

"Nothing to be sorry about ensign", then he looked to Ibarra, "let the medics fix you up and clear you and you can be back up here, we need you up here." His gaze shifted to Imik, "Placed yourself in what position Imik? News flash, there are some things you can't plan for and when the unexpected happens you deal with it the best you can. Just as you are doing now."

A quick bow then a wince as the medic began to treat her, the arm was indeed broken. It would seem a trip to sickbay to get it realigned and reset was required, for the next half hour Imik would be unavailable. Not the news she wanted, "I will return and assist in the location and retrieval of the Sinkahue Commander, my duties will not be interrupted."

"Wouldn't even consider beginning to look for the captain and the others without you up here to help in the search." Jon replied honestly. Now go and get the arm taken care of. You and Ibarra both go to Sickbay and get treated.' Jon replied to his friend.

"I'm good sir. Damage control teams will have things back to 5x5 within the hour" Kuzma reported.

Jon eyed her but simply nodded and spoke. "As you wish Ensign and thank you for the update. That is excellent news."

Around thirty minutes later Imik returned to the bridge, "Commander, my arm had been treated. Permission to return to my station."

Jon nodded relief in his eyes at seeing Imik back on the bridge and at her station. "Welcome back Imik and please do so."

Taking her station, Imik noted the portside sensors were still only showing 30 percent. So, she busied herself with realigning the starboard sets, plasma trails and life signs on planets would take top priority. A few moments later she stood back, until the repair crews fixed the portside sensors, she was ready to go. "I have done all I can for now Commander, until the repair crew finish, I can do no more."

"It is fine Imik. Good work by the way. We'll make do with what we've got until repairs are completed." Jon replied pragmatically.

Aidan worked quickly to get the systems back online, muttering under his breath as he did so. He looked up and over at Kapowski and the Chief, "Definitely going to be a double shift sort of day."

Aaron made notations into his PaDD before stepping next to Aidan at his console. "Good news bad news sir." He said handing over the PaDD.

"The good news is that the phaser arrays themselves are mostly fine, it's the data link that's burned out." Aaron tapped at a display expectantly.

Aidan sighed, rubbed his eyes, and then ran his hands through his hair. "Every time I have this ship running perfect, somebody comes along and tries to break it and we have to start all over again. I'm knackered, but we got work to do. Go ahead Chief, give me the bad news."

"The bad news is, the power surge has fried the control boards on all the Engineering replicators. I can't replace the data links until we commandeer another replicator to fix those. The sensor module that's damaged can only be reached from on the hull." Aaron tapped the PaDD again to flip to the next page. "Aaaand the release on the shuttle bay doors is shorted out. No opening that until we can get the manual override online."

Aaron slipped the PaDD into his back pocket and placed his hands on his hips. "I've got Rodriguez kicking all the off-duty folks from the E-Club so we can take over the replicators there. Two teams suiting up for EVA to fix the sensors. Transporters are being rotated to auxiliary EPS so we should have temporary functionality here shortly." He looked to the side, then back to Aidan after a quiet moment. "We good sir?"

Aidan nodded. "Right as rain Chief. Like I said, I'm just knackered. See if you can get these eejits to get off their arses and get things patched up. XO is chewing my backside something fierce. Send Lawrence to deal with the environmental systems issues on Deck 8. She should be able to get things dealt with once damage control deals with the hull breach. Lt Laurant normally runs Gamma shift and she should be able to pool her team together to get the weapons systems running again. Coordinate with her and Lt Imik. Take Kapowski and get the sensors dealt with before the XO starts launching people out airlocks. They want to get underway ASAP to join the search for the captain."

"I was just thinking I could use a spacewalk sir." Aaron said, tucking his PaDD and nodding to Kapowski. As he began to issue the orders given from Aidan, Aaron turned back after watching the various groups in Engineering gold snap to their assignments. "Sir, if you're not going to rest." He gestured down the corridor. "In my office there's a real coffee pot with actual beans. It'll keep you going better than replicator joe, that's for sure."

Aidan sighed once more. "A kind offer Chief, but the only way I drink that stuff is the Irish way, and that isn't permitted while on duty. Sounds like you are a coffee disciple like Dr. Howard. You got time to grab a cuppa if you like. Just take it to go. Like I said, the XO has us on a short leash at the moment."
