A Helping Hand

Posted on Mon Nov 23rd, 2020 @ 10:19pm by Commander Samantha Howard

Mission: Sabotage
Location: Planetside

Dr Samantha Howard breathed a sigh of relief as a number of additional medical staff beamed down to her location - accompanied by a hearty contingent of both security and intel officers. Feeling a little less vulnerable she started to assign tasks to her team, including assisting the local medical staff with any new patients as well as providing additional care to those still recovering from the last attack, as well as cataloguing and processing the dead Cardassians.

She headed for the office of the Hospitals CMO, knocking lightly on the door and waiting for entry.

" Come in" Came the grumble from inside, someone was obviously having a very bad day.

Sam opened the door and stepped inside, mentally preparing herself for whatever was about to happen. Thankfully the Doctor relaxed a little at the sight of her.

" Doctor Howard, thank you for returning" He said with relief in his tone " I thought you were the Governor with another body count that needed tending to"

" Ahh no - I've brought some of my staff with me, we'd like to help out and give your staff a break." She offered warmly, hoping the CMO would see it as an offer of friendship rather than a sign of weakness.

"Please, we've been working around the clock for weeks. My staff are exhausted." He admitted sagely, offering her a seat opposite him.

Sam slid into it gratefully, her uniform still dusted with debris from the most recent attack. " I'll split my team into two - one half can help here at the hospital - the rest can start processing the Cardassians. I assume you have autopsy facilities and a morgue here?" She asked, not looking forward to the task but knowing it needed to be done.

" Indeed we do - sadly the morgue is almost at capacity. So many attacks recently, so many dead" The words drifted off into the open void of the office, leaving Sam wondering just how long this had been going on for. Rather than linger in the depths of the past she was determined to help in the here and now.

" Sounds like we have no time to waste then. I'll get my teams to work" She stood and offered what she hoped was a reassuring smile to the CMO "I know it's a tough time - but we'll get through this" She said as she headed for the door. Intent more than ever to make a difference here.
