Mission:
Sinister Intentions
Location: Grayson family quarters
{ON}
After recent events with Dex Callie had arranged her schedule to allow herself some brief time off, to move into Jon’s family sized quarters with Harry.
Not wanting to upset Harry’s new routine she dropped him off at the ship’s school and nursery before returning to get on with the move. She had a single bed being transported from the ship’s stores to Harry’s bedroom, she just needed to help Jon clear the space ready.
Arriving at his quarters Callie stepped inside rubbing her hands together. “Right, what do you need me to do?”
Jon smiled at her, "Right here, in what will be Harry's room. It was a study but this will be better." Jon replied, "So help me clear out the desk and chair and the bookcases. Okay?''
Callie nodded. “Let’s get to it!” She smiled as she headed into the spare room. “Where are you moving the desk, chair and bookcases to? Can we set you up a working corner in the living area?”
Jon grinned a bit sheepishly. "I hadn't really thought that far ahead. I was so focused on getting it out and Harry's stuff in and set up. Lets get Harry's stuff set up the way we want and we can then work with finding a space for mine."
Callie nodded. “Okay let’s do that, I’d like to have this room done by the time Harry finishes at the school.” She pulled over a box to put the things in that were on Jon’s bookcase.
"Me too. Show him he's got a place all his own and he is a part of a family." Jon answered as he began taking items off the bookcase and putting them in the box. He stopped for a moment and stared at a picture. He had forgotten it was on the case. It was a picture of him and Callie from early in their relationship, Both of them smiling brightly, ready to face the future together. He didn't hand it to her, He just held it.
Callie smiled as she looked at the picture Jon was holding. “You kept that? After everything that happened between us?”
"Well yeah Callie. I still loved you but you were so mad you wouldn't talk to me or see me. So I kept it as a reminder of a better time." There was no anger or malice in Jon's voice just simple reflection of a past time.
Callie nodded a sudden feeling of overwhelming guilt made her look away. “I...Pushed you away when we should have supported each other. I didn’t realise it at the time, but I blamed myself more than you. It was something wrong with me that caused what happened, it wasn’t your fault at all.”
Jon moved to her and hugged her and kissed her forehead. "I'm sorry Callie. I didn't mean to make you feel bad. It's in the past and we'll leave it in the past. we'll never mention it again. We go forward together as a couple. if there is a problem we talk it out."
Callie nodded offering a smile. “Jon, what if Harry has a family out there? You were right when you said I was attached to him, I’m not sure how I’d face up to having to say goodbye!”
"Callie. we'll take it one day at a time. Don't let what ifs dampen your love and feelings for Harry. Today Harry is here with us and for now we're a family and that is all that matters." Jon said positively.
Callie grinned. “Have you ever thought of becoming a Counsellor? I think you’d make a wonderful one. You’re right I need to concentrate on the here and now, that’s what I intend to do.”
Jon chuckled at Callie's statement, "Oh no. You are the counselor here Callie and a darn good one." He finished, kissing her lightly on her lips. "Now, lets get started moving this stuff out and Harry's stuff in."
~ A while later ~
Callie smiled the biggest smile yet as she looked at Harry’s completed room, his bed was in place along with a small desk & chair. There were teddies and toys for him to play with that other parents had kindly given to her to keep. There were a few books, drawing & colouring. All in all a wonderful room for a young boy to enjoy. “Ohh Jon! It’s wonderful. He’s going to love this!!”
Jon looped an arm around Callie's shoulders. "He sure is Callie. You did a great job in getting toys Harry likes. Have you got his crocodile? We can't forget that. I just hope Harry likes all this.''
“Crocodile...Crocodile!” Callie looked around. “Ohh there he is” she pointed to Harry’s pillow, I hope he likes the Crocodile blanket too.”
"Callie, What's not to love? Harry is going to love it. You really went above and beyond in decorating his room. He has everything a boy wants. You should be very proud of yourself. I'm proud of you."
“Thank you” Callie grinned. “We’ve just enough time to sort out my things before I pick up Harry. I promise not to take up more than my fair share of the space!”
Jon grinned broadly at Callie's statement. "Going to hold you to that statement Callie. Do you need any help in getting your things sorted?"
“Erm...” she looked at the small pile of boxes she had in the corner of the living room. “Probably not. I tend to travel light anyway. Do you mind if I add some cushions, throws and rugs? You know me I’m all for creature comforts!”
"Okay, have it your way Callie and no i don't mind if add some cushions, throws or rugs. This is your home now as well. Just don't go crazy with the additions. I don't want to be living in pillow hell." Jon replied.
“I won’t go mad with the cushions I promise!” Callie grinned. “Two or three on the sofa at the most.”
"Two or three is fine. Two or three dozen not so much Callie." Jon bantered back to her with a smile of his own.
Callie giggled as she pulled out a cushion from her box and playfully threw it at John. “Got you!”
Jon picked up the cushion, threw it high so Callie would have to reach for it. As she did, he moved quickly to her, wrapping his arms around her and pushing her back on the couch. "Correction Callie, I got you." He grinned at her.
Callie grinned as she dropped her arms around Jon. “Looks like we’ve got each other actually.” Moments later they were kissing passionately, holding each other like their lives depended on it.
Jon kissed and held Callie close. He needed her in his life to keep him grounded and sane. Someone he could talk to other than Sam. To get another perspective on issues. He was glad she was back.
“This is so much better than unpacking.” Callie smiled as she held onto Jon. “I’ve missed you Jon, so very much!”
"Couldn't agree more Callie." Jon replied as he kissed her again. I'm glad you are back Callie."
“I’m glad to be back” Callie smiled. For the first time since their split years ago she was truly happy again.
"Then it's unanimous." Jon said smiling a she kissed her softly before he tickled her sides.
