Family fun continues

Mission: Respite
Location: Lupar 4
Timeline: Shoreleave Day 3 0900 hrs

The day on Lupar 4 seemed to come and go pretty quickly. Having returned to their camping site, the night had been another passionate one, waking up the following morning Callie reached for her bag remembering that she hadn’t taken her contraceptive hypo. She was just about to take it when Jon awoke.

“Good morning” She leant in for a kiss. “I just need to take this and I’ll cuddle with you.”

Jon returned the kiss with passion. " Good morning sweetheart. Are you sure you want to Callie?" He asked his meaning perfectly clear.

Callie held up the hypo giving Jon a curious look. “You want me to...leave this off? I didn’t think that we were ready to try yet.” She smiled as she put the hypo back down by her bag. “If you’re sure?”

"Callie" Jon said softly, "I want this and I know you want this. Furthermore, I think we both need this. We'll go slow and just see what happens and yes I'm sure."

Callie nodded. “Then I’m happy not to use it” she smiled as she cuddled back up with him. “It’ll probably take a while, my body isn’t ready yet, but when it happens I’ll be thrilled.”

Jon kissed her softly even as his arms encircled Callie, "We'll go slow, no rush, no pressure and when it does happen we'll both be thrilled."

A while later the family were all sitting around the campfire for breakfast. Callie was tucking into some fire cooked toast, it tasted so much better being done over the fire rather than replicated. “So what are we doing today?”

Jon chewed on a piece of toast before replying. "I saw some caves while we were hiking. we could explore them as long as we can walk, no crawling or climbing."

Callie nodded. “Could be fun, though I suggest we leave a record of where we’re going incase of any problems. Better to be safe than sorry!”

"Good idea Callie." Jon replied and winked at Harry, "See I told you your mom was smart."

“I’m probably just being a worry wart actually!” She shrugged her shoulders.

"You are not Callie. You are being smart and thinking ahead." Jon replied honestly.

Callie nodded. “Thank you Imzadi.” She finished off her toast and picked up her drink, finishing it off she looked at Harry. “Are you finished little man?”

Harry nodded, standing up he went to get his things ready for their cave exploration.

"When Harry comes back, we'll start off. No overdoing it Callie. If you get tired just tell me and we'll stop." Jon told her.

Callie nodded. “I will I promise. The same goes for you, if you need to rest, we rest.”

"Yes ma'am." Jon replied. "Message received and understood."

Callie grinned. “Right I’ll get our things and we can get going.”

"Sounds like a winning plan." Jon said with a smile.

~ A little while later ~

Standing outside some caves Callie looked at Jon a little uncertain whether going cave wandering was really a good idea. Putting her worries aside she looked towards Jon. “Ready?”

"Ready." Jon replied. "We won't crawl or jump just walk and we'll go slow." Jon assured her.

Callie nodded. “Same goes for you Harry, no wandering off!” She offered a concerned smile. “I don’t want you getting lost or hurt.”

"Amen to that." Jon replied. "Got it Harry? No wandering off."

Harry nodded. For his age he was a cautious child, preferring to stay by Callie’s side especially since her recent kidnapping.

“Lead on Jon, I’ll let you be the first in.” Callie grinned.

"Why thank you Callie." Jon teased as he activated his wrist light so they could see just what the caves held.

Following Jon inside Callie’s eyes widened with surprise, the inside of the cave seemed to widen out so much more than it looked from outside. “Wow...this is amazing.”

"Wow is right Callie." Jon replied as he shone his light around the cave. "You should be able to find some good rocks or stones in here Harry."

“I’ll help you find some” Callie grinned at Harry. “Let’s see what special things we can find in here. There might be fossils too!”

"That's a good point Callie, there well may be some fossils in here." Jon remarked with a smile.

Walking deeper into the cave Callie lay out some markers, and plotted their route on her tricorder so they’d know their way back easily. Getting lost would be pretty easy in a cave system this large.

"How you doing Harry? Find any pretty rocks?" Jon asked as he looked down at what appeared to be a fossilized small animal.

“Look at this one Daddy!” Harry pointed to another fossil in the rocks, there appeared to be quite a few of them.

What have you got there Harry?" Jon asked as he came over to see what Harry had discovered.

“It looks like our little man has found himself a whole plethora of fossils!” Callie grinned. “This cave is amazing, our science department would have a great time down here.”

"Indeed he has Callie. Looks like we have a budding scientist in our mist." Jon smiled as he looked at the fossils lying about the cave.

Callie nodded. “We’re going to have to see what the Federation database has on this world. We might find some information on what these fossils are.”

'Sure are Callie, though I don't remember recalling anything out of the ordinary in regards to the planet." Jon answered.

Callie shrugged her shoulders. “I’ll set out a couple of lights so we can see this area better.” She unpacked 2 small, flat but surprisingly bright lights and placed them down. “This’ll add some extra light for us.”

"That is much better Callie. Those lights really light up this whole area." Jon replied before turning to Harry, "Okay Harry. let's see what we can find."

Callie smiled as she watched Harry and Jon together, it made her feel blessed just to watch them.

Jon looked over at Callie. "Hey Mom, get on over here and help us find some more of these fossils."

Callie nodded and grinned. “I’ll be right there!” She walked over joining in the fun with her family.

Jon nudged Harry, "Now you watch Harry, your mom will find the biggest and best fossil yet."

“Who? Me!?” Callie shook her head. “I doubt that! Harry is the expert here, he’ll find the best ones.” She winked playfully at Jon.

"Yeah, I think you are right Callie. Harry seems to know what he's doing." Jon agreed smiling.

“Once we’re done here, let’s check out through there...” she shone her light ahead. “It looks like it leads to another cavern.”

"Sounds good to me Callie." Jon sais with a smile.

Callie smiled. This was definitely the best shoreleave she’d ever had.

"Alright, everyone stay together and lets see what we can find in the other cave."

“No argument there!” Callie grinned. “Lead on handsome!”

"I think mom means you Harry." Jon said winking at their son.

Callie grinned. “Most definitely!” She nodded as she followed on behind.

The family spent some more time exploring, finding fossils, They laughed and joked enjoying their time together as a family should.
