Timeline: Prior to Orion Arrival

Shon woke early her first time in Seth’s bed. She had brought her things from her old quarters, her B’atleth, clothes and various holo photos and nicknacks including the small pot they had discovered in the cave on Mizu and, of course Puss who currently lay snoring at the bottom of the bed. She jumped up and kissed Seth awake. “Good morning” she whispered, “I am going to jump in the shower I see Callie again this morning early and I am trying to tweak our triage teams.” She sighed. “I wish Sam was here.” She ruffled Puss’s ears. “Do you mind if I contact the Captain today? Are you still sure you want this?” She asked.

Seth smiled at her and kissed her back. They had moved Shon's clothes, B'atleth and other belongings into his quarters. "Good morning Shon. I don't mind at all. Oh, when you see Callie, tell her I said hi."

“I will she called as she left then ran back to kiss him again. It seemed strange taking the longer route to sickbay. On the way she wondered if they would be as happy as Callie and Jon seemed to be and she could see why they were so pleased that Callie was pregnant. She knew she would fight with her friend every minute of the way so that she could keep her pregnancy.

Entering sickbay Callie was waiting for her. She had the sudden urge to take her friend into her arms and hug her, which she duly did.

Callie was glad to be back from Vulcan, the nurse who’d accompanied herself and Jon had kept up her infusions whilst she’d been away. She smiled as returned Dex’s hug. “To what do I owe the hug?”

“Can’t I hug my friend?” She asked. “I am just glad you got back safely, how did everything go on Vulcan?”

“Ohh it went!” Callie grinned. “Seriously though, it wasn’t easy and they had to be careful because of the baby but all in all T’Vall is gone. What memories of his I had are gone forever.” She smiled. “I can’t praise the nurse who went with us enough, she kept me going through the infusions while we were away.”

“Good, well how are you feeling, still having side effects?” She opened her medical tricorder and began her scan of Callie’s abdomen

“A little, but not as bad as it was at first.” Callie smiled. “I feel better than I have a while now. The doctors on Vulcan were very helpful while I was there.”

Shon’s tricorder beeped and she looked worriedly at the reason, then she smiled. “Would you like to see your baby Callie?”

“Can I!?” Callie looked at Dex in surprise. “Yes... please!”

Shon smiled at the look of happiness on her friends face and felt a rush of love for her and Jon. “Hop up onto the bed.”

Callie didn’t need to be told twice, she hopped up quickly and lay down for Dex to scan her more easily.

She engaged the privacy screen and placed the high density scanner on Callie’s abdomen. She then projected the picture onto a larger screen in front of her. “Look, can you see?”

Callie looked at the image somewhat teary eyed, “Is that?...” She paused looking at Dex. “It’s so tiny!”

“Well what you are seeing is called a gestational sac, it proves that there is an embryo growing inside, in the next few weeks we should see something that looks more like a baby, legs, arms and the beginnings of a head. The sac is healthy. I am very pleased at the progress. As a future Godmother” she laughed “I can say that within four weeks we should be able to tell the sex, that is if you both want to know? There will be another two weeks of the infusion then I want to administer iron injections as that is a little low. Here” she took a PaDD and recorded the image and handed it to her. “Now you can keep this and show it to Jon.” She looked at her friends face to see if she were happy. “Any questions?”

“Ohh just about a million!” Callie grinned. “I’d like to know the baby’s sex later on but I’ll have to ask Jon what he wants to do. Will I still need the infusions daily or less than that?” She took the PADD containing the image for Jon.

Shon was happy to see Callie like this. She had been through so much over the last few weeks. “Your infusions will still be daily here in sickbay, or if you are working just let us know and myself, Amethyst or Dr Perrin will be happy to find you and give it to you there. Now, Let me start todays infusion and I have added some iron.” As she began the infusion she continued “do you and Jon have any preference boy or girl?”

“To be honest we have Harry, so I guess a girl would be nice. Not that I’d be disappointed with a boy, what’s important is that he or she is healthy.” She closed her eyes as the infusion went into her system. “Ohh this is the part I hate... it makes my head spin every time!”

She looked concerned and got out her scanner, as she scanned Callie’s head she frowned. “Now do not worry but you have a small abnormality in your brain which, I think is causing that. I would need to perform a deeper scan which would involve you being sedated. I cannot do it now but either later this afternoon or tomorrow prior to your infusion. You have probably always had it and it is not life threatening but, I think it needs to be repaired and it will stop the ‘spinning’ feeling. Maybe you could bring Jon with you as I need to see him and he would be calming for you?”

Callie nodded. “Sounds good to me. Let’s make it tomorrow morning.
