All Fall Down

Posted on Mon Feb 14th, 2022 @ 12:49pm by Captain Shran dh'Klar & Lieutenant Commander Shoniara T’ghann-Travis Dr

Mission: The Orion Syndicate
Location: USS Washington

Shon was very angry when she found out that Callie had taken herself off to Vulcan without the Captain knowing the full story. So angry that she slammed her com badge bruising her hand.

=/\= Dex to Captain Shran=/\=

Shran was on the bridge when the message chimed in. =^=Go ahead doctor. =^=

=/\= I am sorry to bother you Captain but I would like to speak to you if possible =/\=

=^=Certainly doctor. I'm available if you need.=^=

Dex made her way to the Bridge, entering she found Captain Shran in the chair.

“Please can I speak to you privately Captain?”

"Certainly. My ready room" he said as he stood up. He looked at Celes, "Deanna, you have the bridge."

Shon’s anger had decreased by the time she arrived at the Captain’s ready room. “Captain, I hope you had a good leave?”

"Yes, it was good to be home again. As the humans say, parting was such sweet sorrow. The time there was not long enough, But this isn't why you wanted to speak to me so urgently doctor. What is on your mind?"

“I have been in contact with Sam and she has said she will try to return before we arrive at Orion. Sickbay is as ready as it can be. There will be dedicated beds for Orion physiology and all the staff medical and otherwise are prepared for possible mass casualties."

She paused and took a deep breath. “I believe Callie and Jon are heading for Vulcan, there are ongoing problems with this, we are heading into Surak knows what. I was asked to see Jon as his physician as he seemed depressed. I examined him physically and psychologically. His physical condition continues to improve slowly but I am very concerned at his mental condition. I diagnosed him with acute PTSD. I will not go into reasons as that would intrude into medical confidentiality. I asked him to see Counselor Jortho but he refused point blank and advised he would see only me. This has put me in a difficult position as I am a good friend of both of them."

Shran remained quiet, though concern was obvious on his face and he was suppressing considerable anger and disappointment.

"Because of this I thought that it would not be professional for me to treat him, however I made the decision for good or bad that I would continue and commence a form of cognitive therapy.” She paused to take a breath. He has had one preparatory session and now he is off to Vulcan! Even if it just for three days that is three days treatment he could have been having to prepare him for his return to the Bridge during this new mission. I am not sure if he will be mentally able to take up his position as your XO when needed."

Shran turned and paced slowly. He turned around, "Do you understand what you are telling me? You have broken enough regulations to earn yourself a serious reprimand at the very least, if not worse. You have essentially told me that my XO can't be trusted and he is equally guilty of the same breaches in regulations as you, and what about Callie? Shall I expect that she too has broken regulations?"

“Talking of Counselor Grayson, and I will. I advised her as her physician and a half Vulcan that she could wait until after the mission to have the piece T’Vall’s Katra she carries removed. I told her one does not just walk in to Vulcan and demand to see a Vulcan Master it has to be arranged and a Vulcan has go with her. If the Katra is removed she will no longer have any of the memories that she advised you that might help. I advise against them going for their own good and the good of the crew."

"I'm not a Vulcan doctor, but I am not ignorant of their practices or culture. You may find that I know considerably more about katras and other such Vulcan matters than your average StarFleet officer. I wasn't concerned about the memories she might lose, I was concerned with what that katra can do to her if not removed. And believe it or not, getting rid of it was the most sensible action that could have been taken. I spoke with Vulcan officials to make sure they would be greeted upon arrival and the katra would be removed promptly. The Vulcan authorities consider T'Vall to be an outcast, a stain on all Vulcans, and the fact that her left a portion of his katra inside a human female that he victimized is a further disgrace in their eyes. They were only too happy to give a special audience to Callie to remove the katra once and for all."

“Oh, thank goodness!” She relaxed visibly. I should have realized you would not let them leave the ship without organizing something. Callie however did also ask me to treat Jon. I fully recognize that I was wrong but it was done for what I though the best of reasons.

“On a happier note Captain I would like to ask you if you are able to perform a wedding. I am getting married to Lieutenant Seth Travis and would like to have it expedited prior to our arrival.”

Shran was stunned by the sudden turn in the conversation. "Excuse me?"

“Yes Captain, we have been seeing each other since he came aboard. It was, as they say ‘love at first sight’ and we spent some time together on vacation. Seth asked me to marry him a few days ago, we were going to ask you together but I realize your time is precious. We are available whenever you have the time unless you are going to put me in the brig, then it will obviously have to wait.” She smiled half heartedly her good news ruined by the state of affairs she now felt placed in, the whole thing was a mess.

"Doctor, I'm not opposed to marriage, and I am quite happy for you if that is indeed what you wish to enter unto. I would be honored to perform the task, but I do think this sounds rather sudden."

“Yes I suppose it is sudden Sir, but when you know it is right why wait? This is a dangerous life we lead, so why not enjoy what we have when we can find it? It will be my second marriage and I never thought I would find love like that again.”

"Indeed" Shran replied, a hint of skepticism in his voice. "Well I suppose we could do something, but I don't think we can do it prior to our arrival at Orion, as we only have a few hours before we do indeed arrive and as you are aware, we are short staffed as far as the senior officers are concerned. But if you are willing to postpone the nuptials, I would be happy to perform the ceremony once we have a free moment. I'll even gift you the present of ensuring you are married before the consequences of those regulations being broken befall you."

She heard the skepticism in his voice and did not like it. “No, sir, there is also another reason that I do not want to share with you, but having to wait and get married whilst having those consequences you mention hanging over my head, I would rather know those as soon as possible and wait until the mission is over. Then I will resign my commission and leave the ship as soon as a replacement can be found for me.” She now knew there was only one way out and would not drag anyone down with her. Is that all sir?”

"Resign your commission? What would prompt you to make such a rash decision? I trust this doesn't have to do with your wild extracurricular activities on the holodeck?"

“Captain how do you know about my activities on the holodeck and why would you think they were wild? Surely that is an invasion of my privacy?” She bristled remembering her wild activities. I think I have been a good ACMO and gone above and beyond for this ship and crew. I only did what I did to expedite the Commanders returning to full health sooner because of our mission. Sometimes it is very difficult to negotiate a safe path between my Vulcan and Risan halves and it can make me a little rash at times.” She hesitated however there is something going on with me and I am having ongoing treatment with Counsellor Jortho.”

"You may not be aware of this doctor, but I am informed anytime somebody uses the holodeck and deactivates the safety protocols. And I don't have issues with you doing your job. You do a fine job, though you do seem to get a bit reckless at times, but nothing I haven't been able to handle until this whole T'Vall mess, which seems to have caused so many of my officers to lose their minds it seems. If you are having issues doctor, I want to be aware of those."

She moved towards him. “I was so very proud when you promoted me not too long ago and I was determined to ensure you did not regret that decision but….I….what was I saying, I cannot remember” she suddenly felt very warm, she stepped towards him until there were only inches between them grabbed his uniform pulled him towards her and kissed him hard on the mouth. The last thing she remembered was feeling as though the floor was coming up to meet her as she passed out.

Shran was startled when Dex kissed him, and suddenly he felt her slipping towards the ground and he had to take hold of her. Once he had her he reached a hand to his comm badge, =^=Medical emergency. Medical personnel to my ready room!=^=

The team arrived momentarily, “What happened Captain?” The doctor asked as they began to assess their ACMO.

Shran explained the situation to the medical staff and then backed away as they began treating her. He watched as they scanned her and began using their equipment to revive her before finally stating that they wished to take her to sickbay for further treatment. He agreed and they transported directly to sickbay. Shran sat on his desk a bit stunned. He wasn't sure what had happened as it all seemed to happen in a whirlwind, and all of it seemed to come at a time where he needed to be focused on what was about to happen with the Orion Syndicate. He had lots of new information to consider, and he'd have to have words with Jon when he returned, but right at this moment what he really wanted was to have his friend back to talk with. He leaned back and hit a button on his computer, "Open a channel to Earth, StarFleet Medical, Dr. Samantha Howard."
