Making sense

Posted on Mon Feb 14th, 2022 @ 1:00pm by Lieutenant Commander Callie Raven-Grayson & Lieutenant Commander Shoniara T’ghann-Travis Dr

Mission: The Orion Syndicate
Location: Holodeck one
Timeline: Prior to leaving for Vulcan

Callie stood looking around her surroundings, she was trying to make sense of how T’Vall had so easily controlled her mind. That and trying to face her own fears, she’d tried a program like this before to help patients she was just hoping it would help her.

Shon tapped her combadge =/\=DR Dex to Lieutenant Grayson=/\= she was looking for Callie in order to find out how she was feeling following the infusions.

Callie paused her holodeck program =/\= Grayson here Doctor, I’m in holodeck one if you’d like to join me? =/\=

=/\= I am on my way Dex out =/\=

Shon took the turbolift which deposited her near holodeck one, walked the few yards and entered. “Hello Callie, I have been looking for you, just a check to see how you are and let you know I saw Jon yesterday.”

Callie nodded. “I know you did Shon, he told me you’d been to see him. I’m just...” She motioned to the scene on hold before her. “Trying to piece together what I need to put to rest. This was where T’Vall took me, where he convinced me that I was his.”

Shon hugged her friend. How can I help you?”

Callie shrugged her shoulders. “To be honest I’m not sure. I’m not even certain that reliving this will help! I might just end up stirring up more turmoil for myself.” She sighed. “Computer... resume playback.” The scene before them played out as Callie watched, it was painful to see let alone recall.

Shon shivered as she saw T’Vall again and not for the first time was glad he was dead. “I am not sure this is helpful either Callie. You know what he looks like, I am sure it is seared into your memory and seeing him corporeal like this……” her voice trailed off as she realised Callie was not listening to her. She put both her hands on her friends shoulders and turned her towards her. “Callie do you still have feelings for T’Vall?”

“Computer...pause program” Callie looked at Dex in surprise, she opened her mouth to speak before closing it again. There was a pause before she answered. “I don’t but... something inside me does.” She shook her head. “I don’t understand Shon! Maybe it’s the part of me that surfaced after my rescue, the other side of my personality that you helped to put to rest. Hell maybe I’m just crazy!!”

“You’re not crazy!” she said exasperatedly. “Maybe there is something a part of your mind I cannot reach. The place to go would be to Vulcan, to see one of the Masters there and currently whilst we are on mission you can’t go. All I can do for you is meld to calm you. You have to try to look forward, make Jon and this wonderful pregnancy your first concern. You are going through these uncomfortable infusions to protect just that. There I will be quiet now but you know I have yours and Jon’s best interests at heart.”

Callie nodded. “I know Shon, you’re a wonderful friend and I honestly don’t know what I’d do without you!” She smiled warmly. “Computer... end simulation, open Callie’s home.” The scene changed to a warm and welcoming log cabin interior, a log fire burning in the fireplace. “Welcome to my home away from home, this is where I like to relax.”

She looked around, “This is lovely Callie,” she looked at the cozy restful scene. “Does Jon join you here?” She asked.

“We came here a while ago, but we haven’t been in recently.” She frowned. “I have no idea why not!” She shrugged her shoulders. “This is my ideal home for our retirement, peaceful and quiet.”

“I am no marriage counsellor but it seems to me you are both suffering and trying to find answers alone. You need to be together working through this. All this…..this…thinking about T’Vall will break the two of you apart and, to be honest from a medical point of view will have an effect on whether you carry the baby to full term, or at least until he or she can be delivered.” She looked worriedly at her friend.

Callie looked horrified at Dex. “I wouldn’t... I would never do anything to put our baby at risk.” She paused. “Shon what if I’m carrying T’Vall around in my head? I’ve learned about the Vulcan Katra, the living spirit. I wasn’t there when he died but he’d already been connected to my mind.” She paused. “When this mission is over I want to go to Vulcan, to seek the counsel of a priestess.”

Shoniara looked serious. “If that is what you want to do then I will help you but it would have to be a Master. until then I want you to talk to Jon about this, come with me to sick bay so I can run a full work up on you but I am telling you your marriage is at risk right now.”

Callie nodded. “I hope you’re wrong Shon, without Jon I’d be lost. I can’t raise a family alone, I just can’t!”

“Why don’t you go home and see Jon now?

Callie shook her head. “I can’t right now Shon, if I tell him now he’ll fly off the handle and I can’t deal with that. Maybe he’d be better off without me altogether.”

“How can you say that, he killed T’Vall to save you, if you left him it would destroy him, sometimes Callie we have to think about others and put our needs to the back of our minds….” she hesitated…”if you want Callie I can meld with you again and push your thoughts about T’Vall To the back of your mind?”

Callie shook her head. “No, I have to meet this head on. I’m the strong one. I need to stay strong, I will not let T’Vall get the better of me! Not ever!”

Shon grabbed Callie’s shoulders and turned her to face her. “That is the Callie I know, the strong woman who is going to bear a child with the man she loves.”

Callie smiled and nodded. “The woman you’ve helped me become Shon. I will make you proud of me!”

“I am proud of you my friend, proud of the love you show and the compassion you have, proud that despite everything you survive with candour and with grace.” She pulled her friend to her and hugged her.

Returning the hug Callie smiled. “Thank you Shon, I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

“Callie, you are the only woman I know that I can call a best friend so I am desperate to share this with you, I am getting married.”

“Really!?” Callie grinned. “That’s wonderful Shon! Congratulations!!”

She smiled, Seth and I are planning to get married before the mission and I wondered if you would be my Matron of Honour?”

“Of course I will” Callie smiled. “I’m honoured you’ve chosen to ask me!”

“Thank you” Shon said and hugged her. “One thing though, this next mission. I had a vision, some Risan women do. I see darkness enveloping me and I am unable to see beyond. Callie if something happens to me then please befriend him. He is all alone here?”

“Of course! But don’t think for one minute I’m going to let anything happen to you.” Callie offered a comforting smile.
