A Necessary Decussion

Posted on Thu Feb 17th, 2022 @ 9:44am by Captain Shran dh'Klar & Commander Jonathan Grayson

Mission: The Orion Syndicate
Location: USS Washington

Shran made his way down the corridor to Jon's quarters. He didn't want to bother him after returning so soon from Vulcan, but this conversation had to be had, and he had delayed their mission on Orion in part because of this. He hit the door chime and waited.

Jon was reading when the door chime sounded. Getting up he moved to the door and hit the unlock button. "Captain!'' he said upon seeing Shran, "Come in, what can I do for you?"

Shran entered with a solemn look on his face; this was not a conversation he wanted to have. "I hope your trip to Vulcan went smoothly and Callie is alright. A few things came to light while you were gone that I need to talk with you about."

"It went well sure. T'valls Katra or memories were removed completely from Callie's mind and the bastard is finally gone." A guarded look came to his face when Shran said he wanted to talk about a few things. "Have a seat sir." Jon said as he moved to the recliner to sit.

"I'm glad that Callie is better and that we are done with T'Vall once and for all. Now we can deal with the Orion Syndicate for their part of everything." Shran took a seat, though he sat looking rather focused on what he was about to say. "While you were gone Dex came to see me. I don't think she meant to tell me everything she did, but she let it slip that regulations have been breached, by her and by you. Based on what she told me it is a serious matter. I wish like hell you would have come to me about this PTSD, wish you felt you could come to me."

Jon sighed as Shran finished talking. "Captain, I went through this after we came back from the mirror universe and counselor Jortho wanted to see me and i told her the same thing I'm saying now. I have it under control. The best medicine is me doing my job. Further Dex had no business telling you what she thinks about my mental health. I'm not irrational or plotting to destroy the ship or harm anyone."

"Jon, the issue is you are supposed to be under care of a counselor, and cleared by a counselor for that matter. Dex is a fine doctor, but she isn't a counselor, certainly not one on this ship. And as much as I might agree that she made a mistake letting it slip, I don't think you are a danger to the ship or crew, but regs are in place for the benefit of you and the rest of the crew. I'd have expected anyone else to follow the regs same as you, and I would hold myself to the same standards, and in fact I have. Not to be indelicate, but many a time I had to have sessions with Estella even though I didn't want to. I'm not going to do anything right now, because the truth is you are a damn fine officer and XO and I need you as we go down to Orion, but I want you to see Jortho. I know you don't want to, and it may not be of any direct help to you, but it will fulfill the regs at the very least."

Jon sighed, "Sir, I've seen Jortho saw her when I came back from the mirror universe. Now, you want me to go back again? May I ask when you want me to see her? I'm hoping after this mission is over."

"After the mission will be sufficient. I know you don't want to, but it has to be done. I'd let you see Callie, but as you are married it would be inappropriate."

Jon was clearly unhappy with going back to see Jortho. He'd much rather talk to Callie but he wasn't going to start an argument he wouldn't win. "You are right, I don't want to." He said simply.

Shran stood, "Rest up and I'll see you on duty in the morning. We'll be arriving at Orion and I'll need you."

Jon nodded, he was angry but held his tongue, arguing wouldn't do any good. He could be stubborn but he wasn't stupid. So he simply added "Yes sir."

Shran exited. He was aware that Jon had no desire to see a counselor, but regulations were what they were. It was better for him to have done this than to give Jon a formal reprimand. He needed to have a similar talk with Dex because what she had done was possibly worse than what Jon had done. He made his way towards the turbolift, wondering if Samantha had managed to fix Dex up, and wondering what Dex's condition was at this point. Dex had given him so many things to think on in such a short burst. It was time for him to go down and see her and perhaps address a few things.
