Breaking Point

Posted on Fri Jul 10th, 2020 @ 11:27pm by Lieutenant Commander Estella Stratton & Lieutenant Commander N'Sachzny P'Glosho

Mission: The Borg Encounter
Location: Conference Room
Timeline: After the Away Team Returns

Shran's refusal to the doctor's request did not sit well with the Counselor. She couldn't sit there and lose another person she cared about and she doubted that Sachnzy would remain idle either. That was why she needed to speak with her, and perhaps Doctor Howard, to perhaps see if they could collaborate on a plan. Though, a part of her felt almost guilty for what she was about to ask her sister and friend. Although Estella had no doubt that Sachzny would go above and beyond for Jon.

A feeling that someone close was in pain made Sachzny look about, her sister was the one that seemed to be the one having the most troubled mind. So taking a slow walk, she crossed over to her, "Sister, your pain is my pain. Do you wish to talk? I can not help you, unless you talk to me. Until you join with our family, I must only guess what is ailing you."

"Yes, we have much to discuss." Estella said, her voice quiet. "Alone."

Looking at Essie, Sachzny could tell she had something on her mind. "We can talk here, or do you wish to move else where?"

"Somewhere else." Her words were for her sister's ears only. What she was wanting to do might have been seen as crazy and if need be, she was willing to do things, with or without other's consent. Though she hoped it would not come to that as time was too precious to waste arguing.

She pointed at the conference room, "We can go in there, as everyone here is otherwise engaged. Is this acceptable?"

Estella nodded. "It will suffice."

Once inside, she turned to her sister. "What ails you sister? You appear distressed, I know Jon has been captured. But we will recover him, but a plan is required before we leave and perhaps cause him more harm">

Words were not easy for her to find, or form. While the Counselor found other species that lay within the far rims of space, fascinating, there was no denying that she had some strong feelings when it came to the particularly Romulans and the Borg. "Do you remember when you and I talked of me becoming family and my reservations on account of things you do not know?" She wanted to be fully open with her sister, but as they were pressed for time. She chose to be forthcoming. "I have an idea, as to how we might help Jon, but it might require some risk and doing some things that I find..." she paused as she tried to choose her words carefully. "Repulsive."

As the words tumbled from Essie, Sachzny could tell this wouldn't be good. "I to have a plan, but I need certain information. And it has been classified for Captains eye's only, and our Captain does not seem willing to allow any attempt".

"I am afraid of that also." Estella admitted. She was a bit torn given that the last mission the Captain had held her at gun point. While she understood that Shran had not been in his right mind, he had stirred up old memories. Ones she had already been struggling with. "Then perhaps, we should collaborate." She suggested. The Counselor was just as eager to get Jon back. And if necessary, take chances that might get her into trouble as she was not ready to lose another person she cared about.

Sachzny nodded, "Collaboration between us is required if Jon is to be recovered, but there maybe a way to unite both our plans so as to ensure success".

"Agreed," Estella offered no argument. If they could come together, then the better their chances of success were.

"I need a diversion to keep the Borg occupied while I enter and locate Jon, your plan is to enter the Borg vessel and engage them. Correct?" She hadn't as yet heard her sister's idea, but knowing Essie and her attachment to Jon it would be her way.

"Not entirely," Estella commented. "I was thinking more covert operations." The Counselor hated what she suggested, but there was little she wouldn't do for Jon or those she cared about. Especially if their lives were in danger. "I aim to infiltrate the Borg and rescue both Jon and the Captain."

Essie's comment made Sachzny stop, "Infiltrate?" The word and action it's self, made Essie's reply seem impossible. "How do you intend to infiltrate a Borg vessel?" The answer to that question already had an answer for Sachzny's plan, but she couldn't see how Essie intended to achieve it.

The Counselor had expected to be met with skepticism as she wasn't one to often speak. Let alone share her thoughts. "I am hoping to get some help from Doctor Howard." Estella began to elaborate. "If we can somehow beam a small team on board the Borg vessel that is like them in appearance, we might have a short window of opportunity. If not, the distraction you need."
She paused again and waited to see how Sachzny would react.

"Life signs", Sachzny said. "Your life signs would need to be masked, plus your lack of connection to their hive mind would be quickly picked up". She moved closer to her sister, "Like myself, you have sought to deceive the Borg. Unlike myself, I think you wish to cloak yourself as one of them". She held Essie's hand, "I had thought to deceive the Borg as a member of 8472, my research has shown I have only a passing resemblance. Plus we lack 8472's life signs, so both idea's are what you Humans call. Dead in the water".

"Doctor Howard may be able to help with that," Estella replied or at least, she hoped she might. Any way they went with this, there would be risk. Yet, the Counselor listened to what Sachzny had to say. Their paths were not so different. Both hoped to deceive the Borg and find a window of an opportunity to save their comrades.

Taking a breath, Sachzny looked at her sister. "I would urge caution with this plan, but since it seems to have the permission of the Doctor. I will defer to you, and cancel my attempt.

Estella shook her head. "Do not cancel any attempts, sister." The Counselor pleaded as she recalled the way in which Jon had addressed everyone, but Sachzny. She had been the only one that he had not even seemed to notice. "If things go wrong, I need you. And your actions might be the deciding factor."

Nodding her head, Sachzny looked at Essie. "I will assist where required sister, have no fear. We have many reasons to prevail, you for your intended. I for other reasons, which for now I can not mention".

"Thank you, sister." Estella took Sachzny's hand into in hers and squeezed it. While she was curious as to her sister's sudden need for secrecy, she respected Sachzny's decision and trusted that her sister would confide in her when she was ready.
