Inside the Mind of the Kilrathi

Posted on Wed May 3rd, 2023 @ 2:01pm by Lieutenant Commander Deanna Celes

Mission: Unknown Colony
Location: USS Washington

Deanna and T'Plana had been working on the interrogation of the Kilrathi for hours. She had been in the various Kilrathi minds with surface scans only, nothing deep. They were aware of the hatred the race had for humans, and had learned that the race could speak English, though not well. They were a warrior race, proud and honorable in their own way, and yet until this point they were an unknown. It wasn't because they were knew to space, they had the ability to travel the stars since at least the 20th century on Earth, which made them all the more of a mystery.

They had determined who was the leader amongst the prisoners, and had determined he wasn't just the ship captain, but held the rank of general. His malice towards humans seemed to be particularly fierce. Deanna had been given permission to use all possible measures to get information, and feeling the need for urgency to get information out in the open, the was now prepared to use her telepathy to delve deep into the Kilrathi mind.

She had brought the general into an isolated room and had him restrained. The security officer stood a dozen feet away against the wall. She had asked for a nonhuman security officer for this and had gotten Ensign Boq, a Bolian. He followed his orders and stayed out of her sightline, his phaser rifle at the ready.

"As you and your people seem to be unwilling to answer our questions, I wish to inform you that I am now going to telepathically link with you and learn your secrets. As long as you don't resist, this should be fairly painless" Deanna said to the Kilrathi as she prepared herself for entering his mind.

"Balzag! I no fear you" the Kilrathi snarled at her.

Deanna began to open her mind and link with the Kilrathi telepathically. Slowly she began to scan information regarding the Kilrathi and the human colonists. She saw a large green planet from space and then saw large open plains and savannahs on what she believed to be the same planet, jungles and forests, with small lakes and ponds. The warm emotional bonds she felt to these images gave her the indication that this was the Kilrathi home world. It was quite beautiful, though she noticed that the planet seemed rather sparse of life.

She attempted to learn more about these images. She saw images of a metropolis of some kind, dozens of large buildings and thousands of Kilrathi wandering about. She continued to take in the images, and saw humans there, in chains, enslaved and doing labor as they were brutally mistreated. It was akin to things she had seen with the Cardassian occupation of Bajor, only the Kilrathi taskmaster used more primitive methods, lashing the slaves with whips. Suddenly a large explosion and a brilliant flash of light blinded the images, and then suddenly she was seeing a massive destructive wave expanding, enveloping the entire planet, killing Kilrathi and the humans, toppling the buildings, and burning the plant life.

Suddenly she saw the planet from orbit, the green haze of the atmosphere now a fiery orange as the atmosphere adapted to the planetwide destruction that seemed to have. The images then shifted to the human colony world, to a facility that looked like some sort of silo at a military complex. Suddenly everything came together and she understood what had happened. The Kilrathi had paid a horrible price for their enslavements of the humans, the destruction of their homeworld.

Deanna broke the telepathic link with the Kilrathi. It was all so clear to her. What the Kilrathi had done enslaving the humans was tragic, but the humans had repaid the Kilrathi in an unspeakable fashion, turning a Kilrathi weapon against them and destroying their homeworld, sparking a blood feud. She needed to inform the captain.

Deann rose from her seat, "Ensign, return this prisoner to the brig." She exited the room, sending in the guard outside the door in to assist with the prisoner transfer. She needed to tell the captain of this grave information.
