Another Goddamned Day in Science

Posted on Sat Jan 27th, 2024 @ 12:38pm by Lieutenant Inara Senn

Mission: Lost & Found
Location: Lt. Inara Senn's Quarters
Timeline: 0600 Hours

The Alarm nearby began to play one of Inara's songs and the lights went on.

Mississippi in the middle of a dry spell
Jimmie Rodgers on the Victrola up high
Mama's dancin' with a baby on her shoulder
The sun is settin' like molasses in the sky

The boy could sing, knew how to move, everything
Always wanting more, he'd leave you longing for

Black velvet and that little boy's smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees
Black velvet if you please

"Alright alright, Music off." Inara stood up and looked around. "Good, No goddamned gods, nordic, greek, egyptian, celtic, or god forbid; babylonian. Making breakfast for me." She stood up and began to make breakfast, and usually the days flowed like this, but this time she caught herself looking at the mysterious painting again, as wasn't smiling... "What?" She asked it. The painting looked concerned, worried. "I know what I'm doing."

She left the quarters after straighening her hair and walked briskly to her lab and entered it. Looking around as her team stared at her. "What?!? Has everyone taken it upon themselves to stare at me today? You all have work, dawdling will be noted on all of your performance evaluations in the future, and consider that if you ever want a promotion." Inara walked into her room She cracked the whip hard, from the moment she walked onboard.

"People look at me and they think they're going to have it easy in starfleet." She said to herself as she studied the day's business in the lab, as some of her team wondered if she drank too much coffee, others commented about the stick up her posterior. And even the Vulcans raised their eyebrows at her, and she noted such behavior on their performance evaluation.

Inara then sat down, and sipped on her coffee, as today was going to be a very long day. Also, she hoped her science team was up to the task, or they would be transfered quite quickly out of her department. She wasn't interested in people, but she was interested in results.
