Mission: Lost & Found
Location: Intelligence Office
Timeline: After the debriefing

Kate transfrerred all her PADD data from both ships to a computer in front of her as she sat beside Ensign Kevin Mitchell. As head of the Intelligence Department it was her job to always be mindful of the little things even if they're mundane but she had her ways of making the mundane easier to bare. Kevin nearly jumed as music started playing through the speakers. The slender little Asian started dancing in her seat while prioritizing the crew members associated with scanning data, retrieval of data from which departments of whatever ship they were on when they treked off into the Asteroid Field.

"Give me a heart attack, why don't you?" Kevin threw an already emptied PADD in Kate's general direction as she continued to dance while ducking the flying object. She giggled and went back to her research.

"If you take the data from the other ship, I'll focus on the Hudson." Kate recommended as she combed through line by line. "It seems like, when they went into these areas they had no idea what they were getting into."

"Yeah," Kevin said. "From the sound of it, it doesn't seem like we know what we're getting into either. It looks like some sort of a ghost story that I don't want to be a part of."

"Ruh-Roh!Shaggy! Rets Ret Rouha Eere n' Get ScooooBie Snacks!" Kate exclaimed with a giggle. Kevin in turn leaned back in his chair and regarded the crazy Asiangirl with a raised brow. Kate's shoulders slumped a little and she let out a long sigh. "Scooby Doo? Where are you???"

Kevin shook his head slowly. Kate could see that he was clearly gauging the girls sanity as she made nonsensical sounds. Kate just let it go and shook her head.

"Computer! Music Off." Kate said. In the silence, Kevin went back to his research but he had to add something to the moment.

"Sorry, I don't get the reference is all."
"It's 'kay..." Kate said. "I know they don't really do television here. It was a really old reference to a cartoon about a group of kids that unearth ghostly mysteries that usually end up turning out to be a fraud with no ghosts involved." Kate nodded to the material. "Sort of my way of saying I'm sure that we will figure out what's going on. If not us, the crew will."

Kevin nodded in understanding now. Kate allowed a slight smile after she explained something that she once again thought would be understood and picked up but alas, the twenty-fourth century struck again. She wondered if somewhere, somehow, Q was watching the exchange and laughing his ass off. At least this way, Kate would feel somewhat relevant outside of just her expertese.

"So, aside from this," Kate said. "I'm working on something I noticed happened a few days ago. It appears that the ship has had some subspace transmission leaks. I think someone on the crew is sending unauthorized messages either back home, or to somewhere. Which I don't get, becuase we're all free to call who we want for the most part just as long as we have the clearance to use the comm's systems. Do you think one of the family members of the crew might be up to something? One of the kids maybe?"

Kevin raised his brows together this time and looked over to Kate.
"I don't know but I can start taking a look into it if you like?"

Kate winked at Kevin and gave him a goofy grin,
"Nahh! I need to have a project on my plate aside from just spending all my free time in the Holodeck. But if you notice anything on the communications systems, will you keep me in the loop? I want to catch whoever's doing it. I know it's nothing but it's going to look awesome in my resume since this is my first dempartment head command." She shrugged her slender little shoulders again. "NOT THAT I'M PLANNING ON LEAVING OR ANYTHING!" Kate made sure to say loudly enough for maybe the people in the next room to hear it, or maybe even the ghosts on the ship next door. She giggled at Kevin's sudden flench and launched a PADD in his general direction. Kevin however, snatched it out of the air. "I love working with you guys so I'm going nowhere."

"Then why not have a little help?" Kevin asked.
"Nah, I got to do some things myself but if you notice anything, just let me know, 'kay?"
"Of course." Kevin said.

Kate smiled at him and kept her stare a moment. She could see that he was visibly flustered -- right where she wanted him. She returned her attention back to the task at hand and started compiling the data.
