Something for Shon

Mission: The Gambit
Location: Travis Family Quarters

After returning from their vacation to Earth and seeing Seth's family, he was wanted to do more for his family, Shon, Shasta and Sage were his life. He smiled he would start with Shon, his much loved wife. He got Shasta to stay at a friend's house (another girl) and Callie and Jon were looking after Sage and all too glad to help out. Then he got busy recreating their first dinner.

*Hours later*

He stood on the holodeck and smiled in approval, The food was prepared and arranged much like it was on their first meeting. Candles lit the table, a bottle of wine also was present. Soft, romantic music played in the background and the sounds of waves upon the beach all added to the moment. He loved Shon and he knew she was hurting terribly from the loss of their son, but he wanted to show her that his love was as strong as ever and the love of Shasta was also as strong as ever and she had so much to be thankful for. He smiled and nodded in approval. He tapped his combadge. "Travis to Shon. Please come to the holodeck."

Shon was just finishing a routine surgery when she received the call expecting it to be Seth to tell her it was time to feed Sage. holodeck! She thought to herself but, too tired to argue she made her way to the holodeck. Entering it took her a moment to realise that what she was seeing was the place they had had what was really their first date. “Seth?” She called.

The music continued to play, the candles to flicker seductively,, all to hopefully soothe and relax Shon. To show her, she was much loved and needed. Seth stepped out of the shadows. "Welcome my love, come sit down and relax and do not worry about a thing, everything has been taken care off." He handed her a coconut with a straw in it. "Drink up love, its non- alcoholic and quite good."

Shon could not help but laugh at the incongruity of standing there in her uniform fresh from surgery holding a coconut with a straw.
"This is really good, but Sage and Shasta?"

"All taken care of Shon. Shasta is with Ashley Reynolds family and Commander Grayson and Callie are watching Sage." Seth said happily. "Now relax, you need this." Seth told her.

“Thank you for this Seth, I remember this place, swimming in the lake, you rescuing me.” She put her coconut down and kissed him. “Just what I needed.” She said feeling happy. Hand in hand they walked down to the lake its serene blue waters hiding the creature beneath. "Actually I feel like a swim!" she announced. Seth's eyebrow raised ever so slightly. "Joking silly." she said as she kissed him.

Seth's face relaxed and he grinned at her, "Whew! you had me going Shon." He admitted as he spoke to the computer. "Computer play As time Goes By." An instant later the first lyrics of the classic song began to play,

"I love you Shon." Seth whispered to her. "Now and forever."

"Computer, play again," She said. As the music began she took his hand. Seth will you dance with me?"

Seth smiled broadly. "My precious Shon, it would be my honor." He replied as his hand closed over hers and he brought her close and they began to slowly dance, his eyes were soley on her, and he was lost in those eyes. His love was for her. Shon was his world, no his universe.

They swayed together slowly in the evening sunlight a light breeze filling the air. These were the best times for Shon. All the hurt in her life seems to go away replaced by a distinct satisfaction that she had done her best. “Seth, why do you love me?” She asked.

Seth pulled back slightly but kept dancing, "Why Shon, fishing for compliments?" He joked but could see she was serious. "Forgive me. You asked a serious question and deserve a serious answer. For starters you are quite stunningly beautiful You could be a model. But it isn't just your physical beauty. Your mind is beautiful and sharp as well full of medical knowledge as well as other equally important facts, making you an engaging and appealing person to talk to on a number of subjects. However, it isn't just your mind and figure. You also have a wonderful sense of humor, and I love to hear you laugh. It is so full of life and good humor. However, it goes beyond that. It is you Shon. Your heart and soul are beautiful. Full of love, compassion and concern for those you care about. Especially your family and how you love them with a fiery passion. You are more than the sum of your parts Shon. You are a most remarkable woman, and I consider myself to be the luckiest man in the universe to have someone such as yourself love me." Then he kissed her as a man who was deeply and completely in love.

She returned his kiss and rested her head on his chest as they swayed in rhythm hum to the music. “It’s just that, sometimes I wonder how you could take everything you have been through since you met me?

Seth placed a finger under Shon's chin and gently lifted it so she was looking at him. "Shon, I'm surprised at you. The answer is very simple. You ask how I could take everything I've been through since I met you. The answer is simple. I love you Shon and no obstacle, no trauma, no situation is too big to overcome because my love for you knows no bounds."

Shon laughed. "you are the only person in my universe that has made me feel like this. Once my life was only pain. then I met T'ghrek who had the faith in me to help me to become the person I am. Then, I met you. you accepted Shasta as one of your own and, when she calls you dad, or father, when she is feeling teenage angst It gladdens my heart. You took me through loosing our boy and now we have our little girl.

I love this ship and my job. Your love encourages me to do...to be more to everyone." the song finished but they continued to dance totally absorbed in each other.

Seth looked at Shon, his wife, best friend, lover and partner in life. "I just helped you Shon. You had all this inside you. I just helped you bring it out. When Shasta calls me dad or father it feels me pride and love and a nice warm feeling inside. I think of her as my daughter just as Sage is our daughter. We overcame the loss of our boy. The wound has become a scar. It will always remain, but I have so much to be grateful for...you, Shasta and Sage, our friends and this ship. We go through this journey together and are stronger for it."

She came off his shoulder and looked him in the eye. “I worry about you when you are off the ship, diplomatic troubles can come thick and fast.” She raised an eyebrow. “I want to protect you.” She laughed, “I guess you bring out the momma bear in me, although What I see always excites me. You loving sometimes feels too much.

Seth chuckled. "Let you in on secret Shon. "The first thing I tell the other diplomats when we're in talks is they better make sure nothing happens to me. Otherwise my mama bear is going to come looking to hurt someone. Must work, I'm still in one piece." He grinned. "Shon darling, you make my pulse race and my blood boil." Seth answered.

The smell of sweet flowers suffused the air between them as a breeze began to move through the trees by the lake. She put her arms round his neck and drew his lips to hers. “Well” she whispered, “we had better do something about that then.” She moved against him her breath on his neck.

Seth's arms went around Shon's waist and he held her close. He returned her kiss and smiled at her, "I was thinking the same thing my love but would you like to eat first? I mean I don't want you passing out or anything." He teased her.

Shon looked passed him at the spread laid out. “Well!” She exclaimed it would be a shame not to store some energy up. It does look rather good Seth.” She let go of him reluctantly.

Seth's hand slipped around hers. "I agree. It would be a shame to not partake of this spread as well as store up some energy. That is just good medical sense." He joked as they walked over to the table and the buffet atop it.

Shon took a plate, “Vulcan tafa pastries, you must have made these yourself,” she said as she took several of the sweetmeats onto her plate. “I can see that bottle of Angevin champagne your father gave us. It’s a shame I am still on duty, Seth you must have worked very hard, thank you my love, you always find someway to surprise me. I also have a surprise for you.” Shon took his hand and put it on her abdomen.

Seth smiled at Shon's compliments. "I did and the champagne will wait. It won't go bad. You aren't on duty forever." He pointed out. "I love to surprise you Shon, you deserve it and your whole face just lights up." He let Shon take his hand and place it on her abandomen. His eyes widened in surprise. "Shon? Are you????" He let his question tail off as he anxiously awaited her answer.

Shon nodded, looking anxiously into his eyes. “Sam confirmed it just today.” She laughed a little awkwardly, “I hope you are pleased?”

Seth was speechless for a few seconds as he just stood there and absorbed the news. "Pleased? " He repeated. "Shon, I am elated! This is wonderful news!"

She laughed with relief. “I thought you might have thought it too soon after….well after our loss and with little Sage to look after. To be honest I didn’t think it would happen as we waited a while for …” Shon began to cry and buried her face in Seth’s chest.

Seth wrapped his arms around her and held her close to him. This wasn't the time for words, this was a time for Shon to get her feelings out No holding back. It was time for closure, of healing. To looking forward and to do it together. As he held Shon, Seth softly rubbed her back and let her cry.

After what seemed like an age she regained her composure. She looked at his dear face. “We should…I should not be crying. This Vulcan human hybrid is hungry, and IAM eating for two.”

"Seth smiled at her, "You cried because you are happy because you are carrying another life inside you and that is a wonderous event Shon. That is a miracle. This is truly great news. As for eating, you have a wide selection to choose from. So take whatever you want."

She helped herself to the repast feeling extremely hungry. The food was delicious as always when Seth cooked and prepared it himself. She laughed, her mouth full. “This is delicious my love, you have outdone yourself.

Seth smiled brightly at her, "You deserve all this and more Shon. You are an amazing woman and I am so proud you are my wife. I love you very much. So, eat up and enjoy."

“You are too good to me, I have never heard a cross word from you to..” she had to think, “to anyone. You must have anger in you, everyone does and, you know I do.” She continued to eat the wonderful food he had prepared helping herself to more of the Betazoid delicacy Oscoids.

Seth smiled at Shon's statement. "Anger is such a waste of energy. Totally counter productive. I do get angry but I channel it into work. Being a diplomat, It helps to control your anger and smile a lot. it drives everyone crazy." He said laughing and putting some giant vulcan shrimp on his plate.

"You certainly drive me crazy, but in the best way." Shon winked suggestively. "That's why i keep getting pregnant."

Seth looked at Shon and threw back his head d and laughed. It was rich and deep and full of good humor and went on for several seconds. When he stopped, he replied. "Well, I am certainly glad that i drive you crazy and in a good way at that."

She looked serious for a moment. “ Seth what if I were to tell you I had been offered a post teaching viral theory at the Academy medical school!”

"My first statement would be to say that is an excellent offer, Shon. My next statement would be to say, is that something you really want to do? "

"To be honest Seth, I am not sure. I know it would be a lot safer. We would have our own house overlooking the Ocean the girls would be near family but, what would you do? would the embassy give you a post?. And then there is the Washington. I have spent the best part of my life here, We know everyone here, Shasta is settled and it is your life as well. I have a month to think about it.

Seth smiled gently ay her and stroked Shon's cheek. "Everything you said is true. The embassy more than likely would give me a post. Shasta would make new friends. it would be a new adventure for her. The Washington is our home. We are comfortable here. Let's do this, you have a month. We'll make a list of pros and cons and see where that leaves us. My life is with you and the girls Shon." Seth said softly before kissing her.

She leant into his arms feeling a peace and contentment that had seemed to elude her for a long time. The mountain winds whispered through the pines and the sounds of nature seemed to become a chorus in a symphony of peace. Somewhere in the gathering dusk a lone wolf howled desolate without his mate.

“I have everything I need right here, this life and my, our family and a new life growing.

Seth held her lightly in his arms. Shon was the most important part of his life. Correction she was his life. before there had just been different diplomatic assignments and he did them in exemplary fashion. Now he had a wife he adored and two daughters that he thought the sun rose and set on. His life was full, rich and wonderful, and he felt complete and no longer alone.
