Asking for Help

Jon sat at his desk. he had been thinking of his conversation with Sachzny and the link they shared along with getting help in using it. He tapped his combadge, "Grayson to Imik, please come to my ready room.

Imik was in her cabin meditating and attempting to calm herself, things hadn't gone well and she was somewhat rattled. On hearing the call from Jon, she took a deep breath and responded. "Imik here Commander, on my way." She got herself dressed and making sure all was correct headed for Jon's ready room. On arrival she could sense anticipation, this concerned her as she was unsure why Jon had called her. Pressing the chime, she waited to called in.

Inside, Jon had prepared a chocolate milkshake for Imik and had place it on his desk. When he heard the door chime. he called out "Come in!"

On entering she bowed, "Blessings on your house and the vessel you serve Commander." Imik then spotted the milkshake sitting on Jon's desk, "First I sensed anticipation, now I sense hopefulness. Is there something you wish to ask or know about the Ojnas?"

Jon stood and replied, "Blessing on your house and the ship you serve Imik" His smile grew as he continued. "When we visited the Onjas ship to help repair it, you know I talked to Sachzny and I asked about the link she and I share. She told me to come to you and ask you to instruct me in how to use it."

Walking forward, Imik raised her hand to the side of Jon's head. She quickly dropped it, "Sachzny has removed the block, did you know of this Commander?" Picking up the milkshake, Imik walked slowly away from the desk and sat down in a chair. "Your mind is racing, and as such I can not teach you anything. But you can quieten your mind by being taught how." She took another sip then continued, "I would ask a Vulcan to teach you how to control and quieten your thoughts, once you have mastered that we can begin our journey with the link."

Disappointment now flooded Jon's mind, "You must also learn to control what thoughts you have, this is something we as younglings are taught. Your mind is an open book at this time, I would assume the block not only prevented an Ojnas linking with you. But shielded and protected both you and others from much of your thoughts, this is why only certain beings could read you,"

Jon nodded his head at Imik's statement. he was silent for several seconds before he looked across the desk at her. "I've always prided myself on having an organized mind and thoughts and now you say I am an open book. I did not mean to disappoint you Imik and I was never aware there was a block on the link Sachzny and I shared." He finished feeling even more disappointed.

"I am not disappointed Commander, and although your mind is open I never said it is not organized. It would appear Sachzny aided in blocking much from the outside world, she only wanted to protect you from harm." Imik now stood and returned to Jon's side, "I will assist you in learning to use the link, but first quiet your mind and learn to shield the thoughts you wish to retain."

Jon brightened at Imik's words as they made him feel somewhat better. "Oh, that sounds like Sachzny. Looking out for me protecting me." Jon said with a smile. "I appreciate your help Imik." Jon answered and concentrated on quieting his thoughts, getting control of them for he desperately wanted this to succeed.

Imik watched as Jon struggled to control his thoughts, "Do you know of a Vulcan that can assist you in training your mind, to help quieten and shield the thoughts you have?" Raising her hand, Imik now allowed her calming thoughts slowly permeate Jon's mind. But she was careful not to join or link with him, that would negate any good she might do in training him in using the link its self.

Jon thought on Imik's question then it came to him Shon! he could ask Shon for help in training his mind, controlling his thoughts. He looked to Imik. "Yes, I know just the person to ask for help." A smile appeared on his face, things were beginning to shape up. Maybe this was going to work and come out for the best after all.

Nodding her head, Imik now looked at Jon. "Then ask them for their assistance, once they teach you how to quieten and shield your mind I can begin to teach you how to use the link. To attempt to use the link with your mind as it is, would harm you and those around you greatly."

"I will do that Imik and once I learn from them, I will come back to you, so you can show me the proper way to use the link I have with Sachzny." Jon answered in a determined tone.

Placing her empty glass down, Imik looked at Jon. "As a Human your ability maybe limited, so I would advise you not to expect to much to soon. In fact you may struggle to achieve much with the basics, this is normal even for some Ojnas so please do not loose heart."

"Thanks for the heads up Imik. I won't get disappointed. I'll just keep working on it until I succeed." Jon replied his tone full of determination. It was a challenge he intended to win.

"I will leave you now as you have much to think about and much to do in quieting your mind, that is never an easy thing to accomplish when first starting out to develop you ability." imik bowed and smiled at Jon, "Sachzny saw something within you, something for which she protected all these years. Now she believes you are ready to progress and achieve your potential, I wish you well on the journey."

Jon's heart swelled at hearing Imik's words as she revealed Sachzny's reasons for him and having the link. "Thank you Imik. Thank you very much." He replied sincerely.
