ON

Imik had contacted her home world, she had requested a vessel to act as an enemy to both test the Starfleet Cadets and new Ojnas recruits passing out of their training collages. A Captain had been chosen and a vessel dispatched with orders to attack the Washington on sight, the weapons had been fixed so that full power could not be used. But the aim of the exercise was for one of the combatants to be boarded and its Captain taken.

Once both Shran and Jon had been briefed and Shran had given his permission, Imik had departed the Washington for her vessel. The one rule the Ojnas high command had made clear, Imik had to be the Sinkahue and run the exercise on their behalf. Now to bring her young crew up to full combat readiness and show the Federation that the Ojnas were warriors to be reckoned with.

Shran had left the prep work to Jon on this end. He wanted to win this little war game, but he wanted to see how the cadets and junior officers dealt with things when it was a surprise. He had spoken with the various senior officers to get a feel for how the cadets were doing, and now it was up to Jon's prep work to ensure that everything was ready.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Phoenix stepped onto the bridge with a PADD in hand. He took a second to scan the device to make sure everything was in order before he gazed around the bridge to see how things were going, more so for the cadets. After seeing that nothing was on fire or in shambles he moved over to his station.

Jon had gone and talked to all the cadets to be prepare them for the upcoming war game exercise. He merely told them to expect the unexpected. He didn't go into detail as he felt that would be cheating but he did say to be alert, be aware and to think outside the box.

James continued his usual duties at his console, but he kept a keen eye on readouts. He had a rough idea about what was about to go down, but he didn't know the extent of it.

Deanna arrived to take command of the bridge for the Gamma Shift. She walked over to Jon, "Ready to relieve you Commander" she said formally, playing up the proper decorum for the benefits of the cadets. Many of the cadets were at stations currently, with cadet Farek at the helm, cadet Kuzma at Ops, cadet Krim shadowing Phoenix at tactical, and cadet Belor at the science station. Additionally, cadet Sitak was at the back of the bridge in a security function, phaser holstered.

"Thank you, Commander Celes. The bridge is yours." Jon replied with equal formality. As he stood and vacated the center seat. "No issues to report. It has been a nice quiet shift." he finished as his eyes swept the bridge taking in both the cadets and the officers stationed there.

"See you in the morning" she replied, a subtle half smile on her face, knowing what was coming.

Imik had arrived on the Ojnas vessel 22162, her crew consisted of both cadets and regular Ojnas service personnel. Her first Officer stood off to one side looking angry and frustrated as she boarded, Imik could sense the resentment against her. "Rathshu Sincohe, please accompany me to the Sinkahue's cabin." In her mind the only way to deal with this situation was from the top down, so the number one had to be either brought onside or replaced by another.

On the bridge of the Washington, Deanna was now in command of the of the ship. The cadets were manning most stations on the bridge, and they were traveling at low warp. "Cadet Farek, what is our course and speed?"

"Currently traveling to Andoria at warp 4, ETA 18 hours" Farek replied.

"Very well." Deanna then glanced back to tactical, "Cadet Krim, anything on tactical?"

Leeta quickly stepped in at the tactical station, Phoenix looking over her shoulder. "Transport ship .3 lightyears traveling at warp 3, and a freighter convoy ahead of us at 1 lightyear, bearing 068.22, traveling at warp 4."

Jon had moved to the rear of the bridge and surveyed the bridge. Deanna held the center seat, and James was at tactical with L'Rissa shadowing Farek. Little did the cadets know all was going to change.

James continued shadowing Leeta. The Lieutenant studied her actions and movements. She appeared to be doing everything well and he'd only step in if the situation called for it. But then again, they weren't in combat. Yet.

"We have a distortion moving towards us half a lightyear out and closing. I believe it may be a ship of an unknown configuration. Sensor data is minimal at this range. Thye are using some sort of stealth technology" cadet Kuzma said from Ops.

"Suggestions?" Deanna queried.

"I would suggest going to at least Yellow Alert and raising shields" Kuzma replied.

"Very good cadet" Deanna replied with a smile. "Yellow alert, raise shields. I want a full sensor scan of the distortion to determine if it is a ship."

Entering the Captains day cabin Imik turned and bowed to her new First Officer, then her demeanor changed. " Rathshu Sincohe I do not enjoy having this type of meeting within seconds of coming on board, but your attitude is one which I cannot have on this training exercise. I wish to work with you not against you, as you know both this vessel and crew."

Sincohe bowed back and then stood upright glaring at Imik, "My Sinkahue was removed, and a stranger given my vessel. Then half the crew are removed, and the weapons are disabled, we are given cadets as replacements and informed we are on a joint training mission with the Federation."

Nodding in agreement Imik now began to understand the problem, "I did not request this post, and the mission was only supposed to be a simple training mission between cadets of Starfleet and Ojnas. The high command for whatever reason has decided to expand it into this present mission of attack and capture, I need everyone on this vessel to defeat Starfleet and bring glory to the Ojnas and this vessel."

The First Officer stood quietly and pondered what Imik had said, he then nodded slowly and bowed. "This vessel and crew are at your disposal Sinkahue, victory will be ours." A wide grin now appeared on his face, "Let us go forward and prepare for battle."

Imik could now relax slightly, with her First Officer on side the rest of the regular crew would follow. The cadets however were another matter, having noticed them when she arrived. They could sink this whole escapade, "We begin training now, and I expect the cadets to work twice as hard." Her number one nodded and the pair went to work.

Jon stood at the rear of the bridge and watched the activity. Deanna was in charge of the bridge so no problems there and Phoenix was watching the cadet at tactical as was L'Rissa at CONN. He just hoped the cadets were as good as advertised.

22162

On board 22162, life had for the past 48 earth hours been hell. Imik had run simulation after simulation and driven her crew and the cadets hard, a brief rest had been given before the exercise was started. 24 earth hours later 22162 went to red alert, "Federation vessel detected half a light year away bearing 225 by 161 closing warp 4." Imik's head turned to the cadet making the report, "Deploy counter detection protocols, ensure we appear as a freighter of modest size. And fire a decoy probe with cloaking ability to run parallel and ahead of us, let us see which one they choose." Sincohe watched the cadets respond, this exercise had placed them against a larger more powerful vessel. Simply charging in and hoping for the best wouldn't work; no the Sinkahue had made that clear and informed them that the Federation would be a difficult enemy.

The cadets had done well thus far, but Deanna knew what was to come. She was aware of the rules of engagement, but Shran hadn't said she couldn't give assistance as required, being a good commander on this watch would require at least her giving some basic assistance. Though the cadets would not have knowledge of the Ojnas, she did. It was time for her to offer some covert assistance.

"Take us to red alert. Bring phasers and photon torpedoes online. Full sensor scan. Look for stealth or cloaked vessels and holographic decoys" Deanna ordered. Now to see how the cadets dealt with the situation in real life, not just some simulation on the holodeck.
