Security Detail

Mission: Cead Mile Failte
Location: USS Washington

After speaking with Deanna, Ayana made her way to locate Lt. Phoenix. She knew he would be on security rounds and made her way outside cargo bay 1 to intercept him. As he rounded the corner with his junior partner, she approached him, "Ensign, continue your patrol. I need to speak with the lieutenant."

The ensign nodded and continued into the cargo bay to check things out, leaving the superior officers to talk. "Captain wants us for security detail on an away mission. Seems they located humans on the planet that this core fragment is taking aim at and we've been invited down. The captain is leading this away team, so I want everything to go by the book."

"Understood" James responded. He had already been briefed on the details of the planet and the core fragment. The fragment was concerning no doubt, but what concerned him more was the coincidence of two non-Federation human colonies in the course of a few weeks with the first one torturing the away team, adding even more scars to the group.

He pondered for a moment "Any idea what we can expect on the surface?" Phoenix asked cautiously.

Ayana took a moment before responding. "I can't tell you much for certain. What I can say based on my limited exposure to the trio that came up and spoke with the captain is that they are apparently of Irish ancestry, they sound just like our Chief Engineer, and they dress like they are in a Renaissance Faire."

"Sounds interesting" he scratched his chin. "Do they seem dangerous in any sort of way?"

"Honestly, they carry swords. But beyond that they seemed quite friendly" Ayana replied. "They are Irish. I think they will want to sing, dance, and drink more than anything else if history and our Chief Engineer are to be believed."

"I see" he let out a sigh of relief, though he planned to remain on his guard. "Beyond that what are your orders?"

"Captain wants us to report to transporter room 2 in about 45 minutes. Standard away mission, so just standard side arms, tricorder if you want" Ayana replied.

"Aye" Phoenix responded. "Is there anything else I should make note of ma'am?"

"No. I'll see you in the transporter room shortly" Ayana replied, leaving Phoenix to do whatever he felt he needed to do before reporting for the away mission.

Phoenix watched his superior leave before moving to find his junior partner. As he caught up with the Ensign, he paged for a relief for himself on the rounds given there was about two hours remaining before his rounds were normally finished.
