Mission:
Not All Orders Are Easy
Location: USS Washington
Shran remained on the bridge as the ship moved towards their new destination. He reviewed the sensor data as it was coming in, Ens Kuzma sitting in at Ops currently as Deanna worked on thing at one of the rear bridge stations. The rear turbolift doors opened and Jon and Callie exited onto the bridge.
"Sorry to call you up here, but duty calls" Shran said with a smirk.
"Not a problem sir. We're always on the clock." Jon replied with a smile and continued, "What's the situation?"
"We got a distress call from an anthropology team. The transmission was garbled though due to a heavy plasma storm. Sensors indicate a large plasma storm in the system, best guess is the storm impacted with the planet and has caused some issues, enough that something radioactive was being reported. We have all stations trying to get as much info about the system as we can. Deanna is getting all the background information" Shran replied. He looked to Callie, "This has to be dealt with gingerly counselor. The culture being studied is quite primitive. I want you to grab Sam, inform her that we may be dealing with a radiation situation, and at this time unknown casualties. I'll need her up here for a briefing as well as yourself in an hour." He looked back at Jon, "Initial thoughts?"
Jon silently considered their options, after a few seconds he replied. "We let Callie scan for the anthropology team as well as those members of the culture that may be in the vicinity. See what she can pick up. Along with dealing with a possible radiation situation. An away team can be sent to look like members of the culture and do on site testing as well as check on the team. It goes without saying we're going to have to be very careful here."
"The Prime Directive is in effect to be sure" Shran said, looking contemplative. "I want this ship as prepared as possible. At this point we are going in relatively blind. We need to make preparations as best we can for now."
"Yes sir. I'll see that the ship is as prepared as possible and that we can get more accurate sensor readings as to what exactly is happening on the planet." Jon replied crisply.
"I want a meeting in the conference room in an hour. Deanna should have most of the pertinent information by then" Shran replied.
Callie nodded as she headed off bridge to go and see Sam, she just hoped Sam would be up to heading off ship. She had no doubt she’d want to get back to work.
~ Sickbay ~
Arriving at Sickbay a few minutes later Callie headed across to Sam’s office, popping her head around the door. “Knock, knock, hope I’m not disturbing you? We’ve got a situation.”
"Good morning Callie" Sam greeted, feeling refreshed on a number of levels after her trip to Risa. "What kind of situation?"
“There’s a radiation situation on a planet with a primative population, so far the number of casualties are unknown. There’s a briefing in an hour and Shran wants you there.”
Sam raised an eyebrow, pausing to sip the coffee on the desk before her. "Does he now?" She quipped with a smile. With the Washington relatively quiet she was keen to get her teeth into a new mission. "When's the briefing?"
