Mission: Sins of the Empire
Location: USS Washington/IKS Ch'Tang

Engineering was humming along. Despite the recent red alert, the ship was in perfect working order, just the way Aidan liked it. Aidan was in his office reviewing the Engineering reports when Jon entered. "Commander, what brings you down here?"

"Hi Chief." Jon greeted. "wanted to let you know you and an engineering team will be in for a change of scenery. We came to the aid of a Klingon Bird of Prey that is in dire need of you and your team's engineering experience."

Aaron perked up, he had been going over the maintenance log with Aidan, a job like pulling teeth. "A Klingon Bird of Prey sir? Well, that is an interesting project." He scratched his chin and looked to Aidan. "Sir, I can get the mobile replicator prepped for transport in 15 minutes." Aaron had begun to run through a mental list of supplies and tasks.

"Take what you need Chief. I'll send you over there with Lt Kapowski, Ens Lawrence, Tauriel, and Rodriguez. Just keep an eye on Lawrence, she is still young and fresh out of the Academy, this will be her first time she'll have worked on a nonFederation vessel, and you know how the Klingons can be, especially after a battle" Aidan replied. "How serious is the situation the Chief is getting into sir?" Aidan questioned Jon.

"The Bird of Prey is suffering major system damage to its engines, shields and weapons. Life support and sensors were also damaged but not to a critical level. Other systems were also damaged but not to a critical level. The Chief and his team are going to have their work cut out for them," Jon answered.

A Klingon female made her way into Engineering, a bit of a typical Klingon scowl present. "I am looking for the Chief Engineering Officer of this ship" she stated.

Aidan perked up. "How might I be of assistance?" he replied.

"I am Miral, Engineering Officer of the Ch'Tang. I am told you are to assist me in repairing our vessel."

"Well, actually, I have assigned that task to the Chief, along with an engineering team" Aidan replied.

Jon hid a smirk at Miral's statement it was typical Klingon. "Miral." Jon spoke to the Klingon. "I've told Lieutenant O'Connor and Chief Geiger of the damage your ship suffered. Is there anything else they need to know?"

"Only that we are to be battle ready as soon as possible. For the Empire" Miral replied in typical Klingon fashion.

"Of course." Jon answered simply. "I don't believe that will be an issue."

Aaron finished loading his bag and prepping the mobile replicator for transport in a methodical and efficient manner. Approaching the Officers again he strode to Miral.

"NuqneH!" He barked, stopping in front of her and furrowing his brows. "You may call me Chief, or Chief Geiger. My team will repair your vessel as you lack the skills yourself. Bring us to the damage." Aaron glowered, remembering his interactions with Klingon allies in the past and attempted to accommodate their preferred flavor of social interaction.

Jon watched Aaron's interaction with Miral and he seemed to have the situation well in hand. "If you find you need more help or additional materials. parts just send the request through."

Miral looked at the Chief, "tlhIngan quv DatIchDI' Seng yIghuH. I will await you on my ship."

She turned and left. Aidan looked to the Chief, "Careful there Chief. We may be allies, but she'll try to kill you or mate with you if you keep up the brashness. Either way, sounds like you are in for some excitement."

"Aye sir." Aaron replied deferentially, watching the Klingon Engineer stalk out of Main Engineering. "They've been through some hell recently. I'll get the ship back up to standards, and hopefully Miral here will have a bit of pressure to prove me wrong." He looked to Aidan. "She looks young, do we know if her posting to Chief Engineer is a battlefield promotion?"

"You don't get promoted to Engineer on a Klingon ship. She has the job because she knows what she's doing. Just remember, Klingon ships are built for combat, and so are Klingons. She's probably feeling a bit of dishonor having to get help from us to repair her ship, not taking into consideration the fact that we are allies or that Klingon ships are always short on actual Engineers. While I don't discount the opportunity to mate, I think it far more likely that she'll try to kill you if she thinks you or any of the others don't give her the respect she has earned" Aidan replied flatly.

He stood up and walked over to the Chief, placing a hand on his shoulder, "I don't envy you this job. I've repaired a few Klingon ships, and I know how rough it will get. Head on a swivel Chief. Do the job and come back home. Same goes for the crew. And make sure you are particularly clear about that with Kapowski and Lawrence. She'll consider them rivals."

"Let me stress what has already been said, we're allies. We don't need to generate any animosity between the parties. We're here to fight the Romulans and not each other. Besides, she's probably getting a similar message from Ba'el." Jon pointed out.

"Aye sir." Aaron replied professionally with a deferential nod. "We'll get them back in the fight with diplomatic relations intact." He had his mission and he would accomplish it. "By your leave gentlemen." Aaron said, departing to begin prepping equipment and briefing the members of his team.

"Later Chief." Jon returned simply as Aaron prepared to leave and begin repairs on the Klingon ship.
