Dinner By the Sea (part 2)

Mission: Respite
Location: USS Washington (Holodeck)
Timeline: Mission Sinister intentions after dinner by the sea.

Shon slowly opened her eyes from her brief nap, hardly believing she had slept with the man asleep next to her after only one date. She stretched and smiled at the memory of their lovemaking, gently tracing the line of his jaw down his neck to his chest and down to his hips. He had been right when he had told her he could navigate from A to B and in other directions as well. He had proved that several times.

She stretched and quietly slid out of the bed walking towards the open door where the curtains moving lazily in the breeze. She had the overwhelming feeling she needed to be in the water. She walked out onto the deck and stood inches from the deep green ocean.

Seth slowly opened his eyes and saw Shon standing in the opening doorway, "What are you doing?" He asked sleepily,

She turned around and saw him looking at her. Suddenly feeling embarrassed she said “I am going for a swim, if you want to eat, Valev’s food is still hot on the main deck. She turned and dove into the deep water feeling the cold rush of it against her skin. Down she dived and began to swim out. She could hold her breath underwater for six minutes and enjoyed the feeling of pressure against her lungs. She was an excellent swimmer as most Risan women were and she missed regular swims in the ocean with the various sea creatures that also inhabited the underwater world.

Seth watched her dive into the water and that spurred him into action. "Eat by myself> Nor bloody likely." he muttered as he rose from the bed went to the doorway and dove in to follow her.

After a few minutes she began to feel the need to surface and moved up through the water breaking through about 200 yards from the deck. There was no sign of him so she thought he had gone to get some food as she remembered he had told her that he had not eaten before their date.

He came up behind her, "You aren't the only one who can hold their breath underwater." He said quietly,

She gave a little scream and splashed him as she trod water. “I thought you were eating?” She said.

"Not eating by myself." He replied with a smile.

“Well perhaps we should head back and eat if you would like that?” She smiled, “I take it you are still hungry?”

"Now that is what I call an exceptional idea and one I fully support." Seth said with a grin,

She jumped out and ran into the bedroom bringing out two robes one of which she put on. Giving him the other. She lifted the lid on the trolley glad to see the door was still hot. “Help yourself to as much or as little as you want” she said piling her plate high with a little of each delicacy and pouring herself another glass of the wine he had brought. Truth be told she was a little embarrassed that she had made love to a man she didn’t even know however wonderful it had been. She sat silently eating.

Seth accepted the robe and put it on, cinching it at the eaist. Once done he looked over the marvelous and mouther watering selection of food and got a healthy selection of food and down next tp Shon. He couldn't help put notice her somber, subdued mood. "Have I done something to upset you" If I have, I humbly apologize for I meant no slight or offense."

She looked up from her plate. “What….oh, oh goodness no, I was wondering if I had upset you? You appear on the holodeck and the next thing is we are making love. I don’t want you to think I am easy…I know I am half Risan and we…well we….are know for our informality about sexual things, but I am also half Vulcan and that keeps it in check. I just felt an instant connection with you but Seth we know nothing about each other!” She sipped her wine and waited.

"Do you think our making love was a bad thing? I certainly don't and I agree we know almost nothing about each other which is why now we find out through dating and being together. I felt the connection as well Shon and do not think you are easy in the slightest."

She smiled, “well that is settled then, how is the food, to your liking? Vulcan food is not always everyone’s cup of tea which is why he prepared the steak. I am always hungry after a swim but I do not really cook at all.” She looked at him “you have the most beautiful eyes, but then I am sure many women have told you that.”

The food is fantastic! My compliments to your brother." He chuckled and shook his head, "No, no woman has commented on my eyes only you and thank you for a beautiful compliment."

“I do not give compliments lightly.” She laughed and sat on the couch legs tucked underneath her watching him devour the food. “So why a diplomat?” She asked.

He chuckled lightly. "Simply put Shon. I like helping people and to solve differences. to forge new friendships."

“You will be doing a lot of that I am sure on this ship. Have you met our Captain yet?” She sipped her wine.

He took a bite of shrimp and swallowed. "No, not yet but I am sure I will."

“Well he is a straight talker and does things by the book but he is fair and cares for his crew.” She stood picked the bottle up and topped up his glass. The bottle was empty so she reached into the cabinet and brought out the 300 year old brandy. “I thought this would make a good nightcap.” She said. “Tell me about you, family, ex wives that sort of thing?”

Seth almost choked on his shrimp at the ex wives comment. Clearing his throat, he spoke "No ex wives, no girlfriends....yet. One sister younger than me Dad is a professor and mom is the stay at home mom. had a great childhood."

Her eyes widened, “Seth was I your first?” She asked softly.

He blushed scarlet.... "yes: He said softly.

Her eyes took in the embarrassment in his face. She moved over to where he sat and gently kissed him on the cheek. She wrapped her arms around him and held him fora minute, then she whispered in his ear, “thank you”. She returned to her seat and looked out over the ocean. “You see that star, the one that is larger than the rest above the moon. One does not always see it. When I was a child we would come for holidays here, not this house of course, I did not know Valev then but, when it came out I always wished for love. It is there again tonight.”

"Well tonight maybe you found it," Seth whispered back looking up at the bright star and silently hoping he had found love and that it was sitting right next to him.

She finished her plate and put it down pouring two small glasses of brandy. She put one near Seth and sat back down. “This is from his old stock, my brother does not drink but he has an enormous cellar full of everything from Andorian ale, wines from civilisations now extinct to this 300 year old Vulcan brandy. It packs a real punch but it is just the thing to warm one after a swim. She took a sip. “What do you like to do in your spare time, assuming that diplomats have spare time?” She looked at him and smiled.

Seth took the offered glass and took a sip to savour the taste of brandy. He smiled at Shon. "Magnificent! Your brother has excellent taste." He put the glass down and looked at Shon “Oh, we have free time, not often but we do. I like to read westerns, mysteries I'm a closet secret agent." He teased, "Also historical novels. I also like to be outdoors. Like you I like to swim, hike, just being outdoors. I can't stand being cooped up."

“Maybe one day we should run a secret agent program on the holodeck, that would be fun. I used to read but my job is so intense now the Captain expects all the crew physicals to be performed within a certain time frame, which reminds me, I do not think you have had yours yet? As for being outdoors I love it. I used to live with my Grandfather on Earth in what used to be Yellowstone National Park,

I was sent there by my parents after Telvan was sent to school on Vulcan. The two of us were, shall we say…rather wild.” She took another sip. “I loved being in the sounds of nature, hearing the eagles crying and the wind in the tall pines. The fact that you can be the only person for miles. That is where I decided I wanted to be a doctor. One winter we found a faun with a broken leg, I put a splint on it, she spent the winter with us and in the spring we let her go.” She looked at him. “I am sorry Seth, rambling on about things. Is there anything you would like to know about me?”

" I just like hearing you talk Shon." Seth said honestly as he took another sip of the brandy. "I bet you are a great doctor and no I haven't gotten my physical done yet. But I want you to do it."

She smiled, “I am not sure how ethical it would be for me to undertake your physical but, I must say I love your…physical.” She hesitated. “You were wonderful you know, I just want you to know that, you made me feel like…..like I have never been touched before.” She stood and helped herself to more brandy. “I love this ship and her crew but of course one can feel very alone amongst all the people one must care for. I can do that and do it well but friendship… that is a different matter mostly since..” she stood and looked out onto the ocean not willing to let him see her tears. “Since my husband Mark and my little girl were killed.”

Seth got up and moved behind Shon. He placed his hands gently on her shoulders and whispered. "You aren't alone anymore Shon and never will be if I have anything to say about it."

She leaned back against him feeling his warmth through the robes, “thank you for that Seth, you have a good heart.”

"Among other things." He teased as he softly, tenderly kissed her neck.

She moaned softly at the whispered warmth of his lips against her neck. “I am so scared” she said.

"Shon. I'll slay the dragons and keep the demons away.. Just trust in me." Seth replied softly as he kissed her neck again and again.

She turned to him and her lips met his once more.
