A Question for the Captain

After a brief but very happy reunion, Seth went to find the captain as he had a very special and important question to ask him. After learning from the computer that the captain was in his ready room, Seth headed there. After arriving at the ready room, Seth pressed the chime and waited.

Shran was sitting at his desk looking over reports. Some might consider it strange, but he found this part of his job relaxing. It meant that things were running smoothly, a far cry from the hairy days of war. As he was finishing the review of the security report the door chimed. He looked up and called out, "Come." He saw Seth enter and wondered if this might be a follow up visit of sorts. "What can I do for you Seth?"

Hearing the command to come into the room, Seth entered and came to a stop in front of the captain's desk. "Sorry for intruding sir, I see you're reviewing reports. This won't take long; I'd like to ask you a question."

"By all means" replied Shran.

Seth paused, thinking just how he wanted to ask his question and decided to just be straight and to the point. " Shon and I are in love and we want to get married. To that point, we would like you to marry us."

"Yes, she said much the same to me before she fell into her mind with the whole future echo situation." Shran was quiet for a moment. "I appreciate that the two care for each other, and I would be honored to perform a ceremony, but I have to ask how serious you are regarding this. I mean the two have you haven't been together that long. I ask because for me, marriage is a sacred rite, something to be taken quite seriously. Are you certain the two of you are prepared for all that marriage entails?"

"Captain, I appreciate the question and you asking it. Marriage is indeed a sacred rite and both Shon and I know what we're doing. To that end, yes we are certain. This attraction isn't based on lust or on physical attraction even though Shon is quite beautiful, there is a deeper connection than that. Our spirits are connected. I've never been around someone who has made me feel like Shon does and I want to keep on experiencing that feeling." Seth answered passionately.

"Very well. Tell me when you plan on a ceremony and I will officiate. I will note though, you might not have much of a honeymoon as well are scheduled to make our way out into the deep fringes of the Beta Quadrant in the morning."

"We will sir and thank you so much. Let me talk with Shon so we can set a date and then I or Shon will let you know. A honeymoon is what you make it sir. We'll manage." Seth said with a smile.

Shran watched as Seth left, wondering what might be next. He returned to his reports, seeing the star charts for where they would be heading.

Leaving the captain, Seth headed for his quarters. He had a dinner to prepare for Shon and a short time to do it. The news he had just received would be icing on the cake.
