Server Surprise

Posted on Mon Nov 28th, 2022 @ 9:28am by Lieutenant Commander Deanna Celes & Lieutenant Ayana Hillis & Commander Samantha Howard & Ensign T'Plana-hath

Mission: Living History
Location: Earth, Texas, SpaceX Facility

The away team was escorted to the elevator and they traveled down to the sublevel where the servers were located. As the lead escort exited the elevator he looked around, "I don't see a technician around. likely inside the server room doing maintenance." He looked to another escort, "I'll take then into the server room. Locate the lead technician."

As the one escort left to find the technician, the lead escort swiped his security badge and let the away team into the server room. Deanna took the lead as they entered the room and she saw the servers. "I need to take a closer look at a specific server. My colleague and I can take a closer look and get the necessary data to get us out of here quickly, if that is agreeable."

"Very well" the escort said. "Lead on agent."

Sam nodded as they entered the server room and then their escort went to find the nearest technician, leaving only one escort and the team. Sam turned up the charm as Deanna and T'plana got elbow deep in code as quickly as they could. She kept an open mind for any messages that could signal.a change in their situation.

T'Plana-hath sub-vocalized to Lieutenant Commander Celes in Vulcan "Nash-veh mokuhlek tor nash krus t' server tan-tor wuh glantokaya goh etek mokuhlek patal-tor, yi etek mokuhlek aishan ha-zehl ish-veh si' tor wuh Nightstalker {I can make this section of server give a signal only we can detect, then we can just beam it out to the Nightstalker.

Deanna nodded and replied with a telepathic message, That sounds like a plan. We can get a better look at it with our full compliment of resources on the shuttle. This is damn peculiar though.

The escort returned with the technician, "Ladies, this is our chief technician, Mr. Morden."

As they turned around Deanna began doing a surface scan of the technician named Morden. Her eyes widened as did his when she came across an important bit of information. Morden tossed the escort towards them and began running.

Deanna sent a telepathic message to the rest of the away team, He's our time traveler!

" Catch him!" Sam shouted as she hefted the escort off her and took off after the time traveller, keenly aware this may be the only opportunity they had to apprehend him. The problem was, he knew this facility much better than they did.

T'Plana 'caught' the escort that Mr. Morden had shoved their way and discreetly applied a Vulcan nerve pinch. He went out like a light. "Sir, I need your assistance it appears your colleague has been hurt somehow." As the other escort turned to look at T'Plana , who had allowed the escort she had incapacitate 'land' on top of her she hoped the others would pursue Mr. Morden. She would disable the security escort and place a signal on the servers that needed to be beamed out and then resume the pursuit along with the others. Hopefully her actions would buy the team time to catch Mr. Morden, at least they could cast apprehension on Mr. Morden.

Ayana and Deanna chased after Morden. They quickly found themselves chasing him down a stairwell as they made their way further down into the facility.

Sam took off after Morden a few steps behind Ayana and Deanna. She wasn't keen on splitting the team up but the mission target was within their reach and she couldn't let what was possibly their one and only opportunity slip through their fingers. Sam took a risk, spying the exit door only 2 flights below Morden. She had a clear shot and pulled out her weapon, firing a low intensity beam to fuse the lock and thus seal the door.

Morden reached the door only moments after Sam shot it and tried to open it, failing to do so. He attempted to kick it open but only got one kick before Ayana dove on top of him, pushing him up against the door and wall. "I'd say running from federal agents is a bad idea, but you are aware we aren't really agents, and we are aware you aren't exactly where you are suppose to be either." Ayana turned the man around, "So how about you tell me who you really are and why you are altering the timeline?"

Morden stared without saying anything for several moments. Finally he broke his silence, "Neither of us should be here, but I am here on purpose, you aren't. You aren't temporal agents, otherwise you'd have more information. I assure you, I won't be telling you anything."

Ayana glanced back at Deanna and saw Sam making her way down the stairs. "You don't have to tell me anything if you don't want. Between Sam and Deanna, we'll learn everything we need, though you talking will be far less painful."

T'Plana had successfully rendered the security/escort team unconscious and fixed the server to send an undetectable, by this timeframe's technology, signal. She then made her way in the direction the team had went chasing after Mr. Morden. She arrived just in time to hear the defiance in Mr. Morden's statement. "Mr. Morden you are very familiar with Vulcan Mind Melds are you not. Given the circumstances I believe I could use it on you with little repercussions. So would it not be easier to cooperate and tell us why you are here."

Morden smiled. "By all means, meld with me."

Deanna looked back T'Plana, "He is baiting you ensign. He has a very disciplined mind, and is trained in various Vulcan disciplines."

Ayana pulled out her phone and scanned Morden. "He has Vulcan DNA, as well as human, Betazoid, and Deltan."

"That explains why he has such a strong telepathic presence, but I can still scan him. A meld would be a dangerous endeavor" Deanna said as she considered the situation. "He wants to meld with one of us. He is a mind shredder, but he requires a physical link."

Sam made a show of pulling out both her hypospray and her phaser, looking between the both of them as though deciding which would serve her better.

"Hrmmm... to sedate and interrogate, or stun and interrogate...hrmmmmmm" She smirked, knowing they held the power.

Above them there was a commotion, security teams throwing open the door to the stairwell. "Time to move"

Ayana pulled out her restraining cuffs and restrained Morden. "We'll deal with you elsewhere." She began to march him up the stairs towards the others.

Deanna reached out telepathically to the crowd that was gathering in the stairwell to assess the mindset. She was thankful that she didn't sense any hostility, only confusion and wonder.

"Will they let us through?" Sam said quietly as they headed back up the stairs with their charge. She had no idea what kind of clout the FBI had, and if they 'arrested' this man, would it fly?

Deanna nodded and whispered back to Sam, "They are somewhat terrified of us. They almost seem in awe of the power we apparently have."

They escorted Morden out of the building and into their vehicle, and with a feeling of fleeting trepidation they left, making their way back to the shuttle where they wished to get answers from Morden and would take a closer look at the servers that T'Plana had tagged.
