Mission: The Borg Encounter
Location: Sachzny's Cabin
Timeline: Current

ON

Looking out of her cabin window, a large vessel kept station. An Ojnas Star Ship had come to collect her, she had been promoted to Sinkahue and given a vessel within her home system. Was she sad? A little, but things aboard the Washington hadn't been the same for some time. She had two family members here, but they would soon forget her. Humans seemed to forget things quickly, she wouldn't forget them. Jon, her friend and mentor. They were linked, and so he was family. Estella, her sister. Brought into her family and made welcome, she would certainly miss her deeply.

But since the peace treaty, Ojnas had been sent to other Federation vessels and space stations. She on the other hand, was now required to teach her own people how to deal with the Federation. To this end her new Command was a training ship, she and her Command Staff would help educate and make ready other Ojnas so they would fit in.

Sachzny's personal belongings had been transported over, the cabin was bare and cold. Memories flooded her mind, good times and bad. Happy times, and even sadness. Her long exclusion had finally been lifted, her fellow Ojnas Zolmepro K'ramun was also leaving. He hadn't fitted in and so thought it better to return, he could also return to his home and become one of the Council.

Jon was in his quarters. he had been released from Sickbay but not cleared for duty. He felt Sachzny's sadness and her desire to leave and that sadden him deeply. He slowly got out of bed and dressed in his uniform. There was no way he was going to let her leave without talking to her and if that failed, saying good bye in person.

Leaving his quarters he made his way slowly to Sachzny's. Stopping outside the door, he forced himself to stand erect as he rang her chime and awaited entrance.

Her mind alerted her to Jon's presence, she crossed to the door. "Jon, why are you here? You are not well enough to be wandering around, please return to your quarters".

He gave her a boyish smile and moved past her, ignoring her protests and into her now empty quarters. Once inside he turned to face her. "Your leaving." It wasn't a question but a statement. "I can't let that happen. .. at least not without saying goodbye properly." His voice broke as he said the last.

She simply nodded, "Yes I am leaving, recalled back to my people". She moved towards him, "And I must remove from you, our link. For you will no longer require it, and it may cause you pain in the future". She didn't move, only waited for his reply.

He took a step back. " I have a say in this and I say absolutely not." His voice firm. "You leaving is hard enough. I don't and won't lose you completely." His voice resolute. " I can cope with the pain as long as I can feel and remember you."

"The link would grow stronger as the distance between us grows, as we are the only two within the link. You may not wish to have that pain, are you sure of this course of action?" Sachzny's concern was genuine, she didn't want Jon to suffer over her. She loved him to much to hurt him more, plus leaving would hurt her more as she had connections to others here.

She made a move forwards and raised her hand, "I will ask you one more time, and it will be the last request I make of you. Are you sure of this course of action?"

"Sachzny, my dear, dear and sweet Sachzny, allow me this one request. I am completely sure. I wish to keep the link and our connection. It's the least I can do to show you how I feel about you and how much I will miss you." Jon answered as his mind was filled with memories he and Sachzny had shared, Their first vanilla milkshake together, him showing her his hometown via the holodeck. Her rescue of him from the Romulans. Their shared adventure in dealing with Enomblo. The anguish of their falling out and the joy when they had made up and been reunited. Now this, there were no words for how miserable and sad he felt. A part of him was leaving and that hurt terribly.

Sachzy dropped her hand, "I will reluctantly agree with your request, but I must impress upon you one thing. After I depart, you will forever have our link within your head.". She crossed to him and kissed his lips gently, "Stay safe my Human love, enjoy your life with your intended". She now turned and spoke into a communicator, "Sinkahue P'Glosho now ready to report on board". A white rectangle now slowly appeared in the cabin, it resolved into full sized portal. Sachzny turned back to Jon, "I must depart now, I will miss you and our life here together".

Jon's eyes were downcast heavy with emotion. First being assimilated by the Borg now his best friend was leaving. It was just too much. "It's a small price to pay." Jon commented. He moved to her and hugged her tightly then tilting his head he returned the kiss she had given him. "Stay safe my dear friend and if you ever have another vanilla milkshake think of me. Until we meet again N'Sachzny P'Glosho. You will be missed." Jon replied using her formal Onjas name.

She walked towards the portal, and then stopped, "Commander Jonathan Grayson, I humbly suggest that you visit the Ojnas home world. Once you arrive contact me, and I will travers space to come to your side. Until then, I bid you health and long life". Her use of Jon's official title signaled her final time on the Washington had arrived, bowing to her friend she stepped through and left that world behind.

Jon stood staring at the spot his friend had just stood for what seemed like an eternity but was really just seconds but already he missed her and her curiosity. "Damn right I will." He whispered making a promise to himself and Sachzny. He knew with certainty that life would never again be the same aboard the Washington and that was a crying shame. The crew for the most part would never realize what they missed with Sachzny's departure and what an awesome opportunity they let slip through their fingers by not getting to know Sachzny like he did. They would never get to know the wonderful, intelligent and compassionate woman they let slip through their fingers

This was my final JP on this sim, I have reluctantly reach the point where I feel I am no longer welcome. I wish you all fair winds and smooth seas, and to Jeff. Thank you for a beautiful last JP, I will remember that blessing you bestowed on me.

A beautiful, bittersweet post that shows the strength of these two characters and their friendship. Kudos to Lia as Sachzny's writer as she has a firm grasp on this character. I will miss Lia and Sachzny very, very much.
