Intelligence not matching the data

Posted on Fri Apr 21st, 2023 @ 9:21pm by Lieutenant Commander Deanna Celes & Ensign T'Plana-hath

Mission: Unknown Colony
Location: Intelligence suite and bridge

T’Plana had put her restraints on when the red alert klaxon sounded, then sent the instructions to the probe. She then shifted the powerful sensors onto identifying the relevant tactical and intelligence data that had caused the red alert.
The sensors immediately picked up the launching of six small fighter craft; each armed with crude; by Federation standards, plasma cannons, and two each crude torpedoes. The most interesting thing about the fighters were they had primitive shielding systems. The main ship was an interesting mixture of early Romulan and Klingon design.
She watched the futile firing of the main ship and fighters towards the Washington; she barely felt the small shake of the impacts. She watched as the Washington returned fire. She knew the return fire was perhaps at 50% strength, which still caused considerable damage the other ship.
She began comparing the recent ship fire to those remnant traces left in orbit. She frowned in an UnVulcan manner. The plasma fire was similar but the debris was not similar to the ship they had just engaged.
=/\=T’Plana to the bridge. Have Intelligence data being sent up now.=/\= with that she hit the appropriate button and transmitted her findings.

Deanna got the hail just before reaching the bridge. =^=I'll look it over in a moment =^= she replied calmly. The doors to the turbolift opened and Shran looked back to her and commented on her timing. It appeared the battle was already over. Jon and Shran were heading to the transporter room to bring a few of the Kilrathi over, no doubt for an interrogation of some sort, and Deanna was informed she'd be accompanying them, along with Phoenix and Dersch.

As the turbolift made its way to their destination Deanna contacted T'Plana, =^= T'Plana, things are moving quickly here. I haven't been able to look over your data you sent up. Was their something pertinent? I'm accompanying the captain and XO to the transporter room to bring a few of these Kilrathi over for, aggressive diplomacy =^= she said with a smirk.

T’Plana looked the data over once more before replying. =/\=Be advised that while the plasma fired by today’s guest matches is similar to the traces of the debris field the ship itself does not conform to any debris or other metals in this system. Also the ships have an early Romulan and Klingon design to it. The fighter craft have their own primitive shielding. It is in my current opinion that our guest may not be the original attackers. Given the current data we have.=/\=

=^=Will take it under advisement=^= Deanna replied. =^=You may be needed shortly for firsthand intel gathering.=^=
