Deliberating

Mission: Unknown Colony
Location: USS Washington
Timeline: Current

Seth had arranged a one on one meeting with Callie in conference room two to discuss their guests and to get her 'feel' of the situation. For himself, he felt they were too nice, which meant they were hiding something or certainly not being entirely up front in their discussions.

He had arranged coffee and some snacks if they lost the time because their discussion got too involved (which was entirely possible.) As he waited for Callie, he thought of Shon and hoped she had been able to discover anything about either their guests or the Kilrathi. As he waited, he nibbled on a pretzel.

Callie arrived at the conference room offering an apologetic smile. “Sorry Seth I didn’t mean to keep you waiting!” She dipped into the pretzels taking a couple to nibble on, She felt like she was permanently hungry mainly thanks to her pregnancy.

"Hiya Callie." Seth greeted Callie pleasantly. He chuckled as she reached for and got some pretzels. "You didn't keep me waiting Callie, so no apology is necessary. I was just thinking about our guests. But first, how are you feeling with your pregnancy?"

“Mmm...hungry!” Callie offered a wry smile as she chewed on her pretzel. “Shon isn’t the only one having twins. Everything is going fine so far.”

Seth smiled broadly. "I'm so excited as is Shon. You both should compare notes and exchange notes on anything you do that helps with your pregnancy." He offered.

Callie nodded. “That’s a good idea! I’ll speak to Shon about it.” She took a seat grabbing a few more pretzels as she did so. “So what do you make of our guests?”

"Good. I'm sure you both have things that work for you and by sharing you might find news ones to help you." He reached for some pretzels. Popped one in his mouth, chewed and swallowed. "As for our guests. Not sure, they seem nice enough but I can't shake the feeling their holding back. What's your take on them?"

Callie finished off the pretzel she was chewing. “To be honest I’m not exactly sure, they seem a little too good to be true. They appear honest, interested in their roots, yet they’re cagey about the Kilrathi.”

Seth nodded in agreement at Callie's observations. "Yes exactly. They are very tight lipped about these Kilrathi which is odd in that they destroyed a Kirathi ship. So have had some dealings with them."

“It seems the Kilrathi ship’s aren’t even a match for us, which is very odd” Callie paused to poor a glass of chilled water. “I don’t feel as though the colonists are a threat, but there’s definitely something they’re not telling us. I’m just not sure what.” She took a sip of her drink.

"Agreed Callie. The colonists may not be a threat but they aren't being forthcoming either and it's hard to have talks when one side isn't being honest." He pointed out. "I think the key is the Kilrathi. We need to get more information on them."

Callie nodded. “I don’t suppose there’s any chance I’ll be allowed in the brig to talk to the Kilrathi. I’d like to try and get an assessment of them, see who we’re dealing with.”

Seth shook his head, "I would say very little chance Callie. Oh, you might be allowed into the brig but you'd be talking, observing the Kilrathi through the forcefield. There is no way the captain or Jon is going to let you have direct contact with the Kilrathi.”

“Oh I don’t want direct contact” Callie smiled. “Just a chance to observe them, I don’t know whether or not I’d be able to sense their emotions. There is a sense of...” She paused to open her mind a little. “Rage, anger, hate...” she closed off her mind. “It has to be the Kilrathi.”

"I apologize Callie, I should have known you wouldn't want direct contact with them." He nodded as she spoke of the emotions she was sensing. "I'm sure it is Callie. It certainly isn't coming from the colonists."

“No, I don’t think so” Callie shrugged her shoulders. “What if these Kilrathi are more xenophobic? They’re fighting off any that threaten their space, their way of life?”

Seth considered Callie's question. "That's a good point Callie. I hadn't thought about that. You may be onto something there with that line of thinking. It certainty is worth considering."

Callie nodded and smiled. “Thanks Seth, maybe we’d best ask the Captain if we can interview the Kilrathi, it’s the only way to be sure.”

"An excellent idea Callie. We can double team them and besides there's safety in numbers," He replied with a grin. "At least I hope so."

“You and me both!” Callie grinned. “Our first obstacle will be the Captain. Let’s take this theory to him and Jon, see what they think.”

"Agreed and I think they both are going to be obstacles Callie. No offense against Jon but I see how he looks at you, the love in his eyes. He isn't going to put you in danger eapecially with you pregnant."

“I know, that’s why I want him there. I promised no risks, I’m going to keep that promise.” Callie smiled.
