Discussing the Kilrathi

Posted on Mon May 1st, 2023 @ 2:05pm by Captain Shran dh'Klar & Commander Jonathan Grayson & Lieutenant Commander Callie Raven-Grayson & Lieutenant Seth Travis

Mission: Unknown Colony
Location: Conference Room

Having called both Shran and Jon to the conference room, Callie sat chewing on more pretzels as she and Seth awaited their arrival.

Jon entered the conference room, nodded to Seth and spoke to Callie. "What's up sweetie?"

Shran followed Jon in. "What is on your mind counselor?"

“Well...” Callie looked at Seth then back at Shran. “Seth and I were talking about the Kilrathi. I’m wondering if they could be a xenophobic race, trying to fend off any who might threaten their way of life. We’d like permission to interview the Kilrathi we have in the brig, just to give us a better idea from a psychological point of view.

Jon looked at Shran and then back to Callie and Seth. "I don't know Callie, they are extremely hostile."

Callie nodded. "I know Jon, I plan on doing it outside the cell in the brig, so they would be safely contained. I promised you no risks, and I'm going to keep that promise."

Jon wasn't convinced. "I know Callie. I know and I believe you. It's the Kiltathi, they are hostile to the extreme and I don't want you hurt or the twins."

"I don't think you should be around them at this time Callie" Shran said flatly. "Sam has to determine if they are dangerous, medically speaking. You remember our conversation with Phoebe and Paige. Also, Deanna and T'Plana are continuing to interrogate them. She has probed them mentally. The only people they seem to have issue with are humans, but it doesn't seem like xenophobia, more like a pathological hatred of humanity in general as they view humans as inferior to them."

Callie nodded. “So much for that theory then.” She sighed. “As for our guests I think they’re holding back about these Kilrathi, I just don’t know why they’d do that. Especially as the Kilrathi are their enemies.”

Seth spoke up. "Don't feel bad Callie it was worth a try. However as to why our guests are holding back. What if they have a shared history and somewhere along the line something happened to make them enemies."

“I guess that’s a possibility Seth” Callie nodded.

Seth chuckled, "As good as any at this point." He noted.

"They have a shared history, of sorts" Shran spoke up. "The Kilrathi abducted humans from Earth in the 20th century to use as slave labor. That much we know. We also know that the humans revolted and eventually gained their freedom, at the cost of their Kilrathi overlords. Why our guests are withholding I can't say, but I agree they are not being completely candid with us. I think that we should allow Deanna and T'Plana to continue interrogating the Kilrathi, but I believe you should talk with our guests and see if you can get answers about whatever they aren't telling us."

Callie nodded. “That we can do Sir, maybe we should invite them here while we’re all here and see if they’ll tell us?”

"We can do that Callie. Maybe the Kilrathi still view the colonists as their property and they want them back or under their control again." Seth suggested.

"I think the Kilrathi want the colonists dead, and I think the colonists feel the same" Shran said emphatically. "Jon, what do you think?

Jon took a moment before he replied. "There is definitely no love lost on the part of the Kilrathi. We saw first hand how they feel about humans. I think the colonists feel the same toward the Kilrathi. Just as you said sir. They just hide it better." He paused. "You know that may be the answer to the colonists being coy. They don't want us to know how they feel. Maybe their afraid we'll abandon them."

Callie nodded. “That’s a possibility Jon, maybe I’ve been overthinking things.”

"Maybe Callie. I'll leave it you and Seth to dig deeper and see if there is anything to what I said. Right now it's just an opinion." Jon answered.

"Let's bring the colony leaders in and have a frank conversation. We can't assume anything. Only thing we can say with certainty is that these colonists are not your garden variety humans, which isn't surprising. They've made impressive progress considering their circumstances, but we definitely need to get answers" Shran said reflectively. "Jon, gather the leaders and bring them here. Let's see what we can find out from them."

"Yes sir. I'll go and get them now. Callie, would you like to come with me to collect our guests and bring them back here?"

Callie nodded. “By all means.” She smiled warmly.

"Very well, we'll wait for your return" Shran replied.
