Linds had used the sonic shower and dressed for bed. Sitting on the edge of the bed she looked at the door wondering what was happening. It seemed so quiet and she surmised that Shasta had gone to bed. Despite her dichotomy or, perhaps because of it she became more aware of the need to ensure that life for Shasta was as smooth and as good as possible given the way she was returned. Shasta had died in a fire and then had been returned to life on a mission. She sighed and climbed into the bed that Shon shared with Seth. His smell on the sheets touched her nose and she buried it in his pillow as she began to relax and doze. Her last thought before sleep was to wonder where Seth was.

Seth continued to think, he thought of how much he loved Shon and Shasta. He had fallen in love almost instantly with Shon from their first meeting and then later dates. That love had continued to grow and was now a burning blaze in his chest. Now, he was worried about her and he felt so helpless. Shasta wasn't his biological daughter but he couldn't love her anymore than he did if she was. She loving and considerate, smart as a whip and made everyone's lives better by being in it. He sighed looked at the chronometer and was surprised by how much time had passed. Rising from the table, he made his way to the bedroom. He found Shon already asleep and smiled, she needed to rest. He went into the bathroom, brushed his teeth and changed for bed. Returning to Shon, he climbed in quietly and kissed her cheek softly. "I love you Shon, with every breath I take." He whispered as he looked an arm over her.

Sometime in the night Linds woke from a sweet lazy dream and realized she had been smiling. As she lay there she could feel a heat radiating inside her as she heard the soft breathing of her husband and feeling the weight of his arm thrown over her. She turned slowly so as not to wake him and, propped up on her elbow watched him sleep. He looked like a young boy, his hair fallen over his forehead accentuating the sweep of his eyebrows, his face calm and unlined. He murmured suddenly in his sleep, words inaccessible to her. Suddenly something overtook her and she leaned forward and kissed him softly on his generous mouth. She loved him more than life itself whether it was to be as Shon or as Linds iand in that one moment knew she would just enjoy this time with him and Shasta, play the part to whatever end was to be and, if she had to return maybe her writing would be all the better for being here with them. She kissed him again her hand gently caressing his chest.

Whether it was her kiss or her gentle caress of his chest Seth blinked his eyes open and he looked at Shon as she lay next to him smiling. "Shon? Is everything okay? Are you alright?" He asked, his love and concern for her wiping away any vestige of sleep. He shifted so he could see her better. "Do you feel better?" He questioned as he gazed at the beautiful woman who brightened every day of his life, and made every day a celebration by becoming his wife and partner in this journey they shared that also included Shasta. "You look like you do." He stated answering his own question. "You had Shasta and me worried." He stated openly. He paused as his eyes swept her face drinking her smile and her beauty both inside and out. "I love you, you know."

The night seemed so quiet and the only sound was their breathing. “I’m fine my love,” linds whispered as she kissed him again. “I am sorry I have worried you and Shasta these last few days. Work has been so busy and urgent that I sort of ……lost myself. Never think that I do not love you?”

Seth's eyes glistened with tears. "I am, very, very glad to hear that Shon and I know Shasta will be as well. You need to make time for you Shon. Look after yourself, Shasta and I will help of course but sometimes it is okay to step back and take a break. You aren't a robot Shon."

She sighed, remembering she could not tell the truth. “I had to give Samantha some extra support, she has, is in a bad place at the moment and I had to find a cure for the fever or watch hundreds of people die. I…I also had a brush with death when Amethyst grabbed me by the throat and I stopped breathing for few minutes, it all overwhelmed me.” She lay her head on his chest listening to his heart. Linds wanted to remember everything.

Seth sat bolt upright. "What! He exclaimed loudly. Amethyst grabbed and choked you?! Where was everyone else? Why didn't someone stop her before she attacked you? Gosh darn it Shon! This is serious. This is exactly why you need to take better care of you. Not the attack, though I am upset over that. I'm talking of being overwhelmed."

“It was over in a flash. I was bending down when she woke, I think something about her is different since the vaccine.” In that moment she remembered that Shon was pregnant with twins and, of course she was not. “I will try to be more careful and, after this Kilrathi thing is over I might take some time off, maybe the three of us can go visit family?” She lay looking at him.

"Hmmm." Seth muttered. "Please do. You are very dear to me and Shasta. As for visiting family. I like that idea of both taking time off and visiting family. I like that idea very much." He admitted.

“And” she said “it means more time to do this.” She began to kiss his chest, gently, lightly her tongue licking his chest as she began to disappear under the cover. “Mmm you taste so good.” Linds knew she wanted him to make love to her, to be able to remember how it felt when she had to go back. Tears began to fall again.

"Ohhhhh. I am all for you, us having more time for this." Seth gasped as Shon licked his chest before disappearing under the covers. "Oh, do I now?" He bantered as he rolled gently so he was atop Shon, peppering her lips and throat with kisses. "You my dear taste absolutely divine." He stopped when he saw her tears. "Shon? What? What is it?"

“ happy tears my love, you are the best husband and father I could ever……imagine now, make me forget?” She whispered.

Seth smiled at her, "That is because I have an absolutely fantastic wife who is witty and warm, loving and intelligent and smart as all get out." He leaned down and kissed her softly on her full lips. "Your wish is my command.

Linds laughed low and throaty. “Then I command you.”
