Mission: Writing the Q Cards
Location: Holodeck 1
Timeline: TBD

Seth had the program in place. It was his little hideaway that few knew about but he wanted Shon and Shasta to know about it and see it, It was in the Pacific Northwest, in the state of Washington to be precise. A home on the shore of Lake Crescent in the foothills of the Olympic mountains. It was a glacially craved lake. It was hard to imagine a more beautiful sight and right now Shon needed it.

He tapped his combadge. "Shon, Shasta please meet me at holodeck one."

Linds had decided to take some time off to explore further the world she had been thrust into by the Q entity. It was unknown as to how long this would continue and she was frustrated by her lack of control. Working in sickbay and interacting as Shoniara was tiring both physically and mentally and she felt she was becoming exhausted. She had then finished her shift early and had picked up Shasta from school. They were walking down the corridor towards their quarters Shasta happily chatting about her day. Linds only half listening was surprised to receive the message from Seth as she thought he would still be working with his diplomatic duties. They turned and headed back to the holodeck Shasta now running ahead her face wreathed in smiles as she saw her father. Linds smiled, “Seth?” She inquired.

Seth smiled happily at the pair as he bent down to one knee to hug Shasta. "Hi sweetie. Was thinking in what you said about getting away. I'm not ready to end my career just yet. However, I do have a solution." He explained cryptically. "Computer, run Seth Dream program one." The computer responded instantly, "Program running you may enter when ready." He smiled broadly. "Ladies, if you will, let mw show you my home." With that, he entered the holodeck and another world. A world of majestic mountains, a crystal clear blue lake, tall pines, birds singing in in the woods. Crisp, cool spring air with a hint of pine in it and finally a house nestled in the middle of a patch of trees.

He turned and looked at Shon and Shasta, :What do you think?"

Shon was not known for being without words but Linds stood silently with her mouth open. Shasta jumped and clapped her hands. “Is this a real place?” She breathed as the crisp mountain air filled her lungs.

Seth beamed at Shasta. "Shasta, my darling Shasta. it is indeed a real place. it is my home on Earth. What do you think?" He glanced at Shon who stood speechless. "Shon darling? Are you okay?"

She nodded. “Why didn't you show us this place before?”she looked towards the house nestled within the pines. She felt and heard the breeze as she looked towards the mountains clouds scudding around their tops bringing the scent of rain on the air.

Shasta ran off towards the house as Linds took Seth’s arm. “Show me my love?”

Seth hung his head, :I was waiting for the right moment and when I saw how upset you were and the stress you were under, I decided I couldn't wait any longer. Please don't be mad." He said as he took her hand and they walked towards the house.

She squeezed his hand. “How could I ever be mad at you in this place. I want to stay forever. Maybe we could have some horses, stables and a tree to climb…..” her voice trailed off as she noticed Shasta half way up a tree. “Oh Seth this is the most beautiful place I have ever seen.”

Shasta’s laugh rang out happily. “I can see squirrels!” she exclaimed, oh and there is a lake, can we go swimming dad, like now?” She scrambled back down and ran over to her parents. “This place is perfect for a tree house! Oh thank you, thank you.” She grabbed Seth in an orgy of kisses and hugs jumping ip and down excitedly.

Shon laughed, “Shasta lets go see the house first, look I can see a rocking chair on the porch, and I think it’s going to rain.”

Seeing Shon happy, seeing Shasta happy made this all worth it.. "We can go swimming a bit later Shasta, we need some bathing suits and towels. I also want you and your mom to see the house. It has a few surprises I think you will like." Seth answered as he led Shon up the steps and unlocked the door, leading the pair into a massive living room with hardwood floors and a fireplace. He stopped to look at their faces.

Shon’s eyes widened at the sight of the huge fireplace. “I hope there’s a storm coming Seth. We can have…..” she coughed as she had just realised Shasta was listening. “That is a beautiful deep rug in front of the fire.”

“Do i have my own room?” Shasta asked.

Seth chuckled as Shon caught herself before he answered Shaasta, His eyes twinkled in delight. "Do you have your own room?" He repeated. "Young lady go down that hall second door to the left is your room. Go take a look." He grinned and hoped Shasta liked how he had appointed it. It had it's own computer terminal, a queen size bed, bookshelves for her to put her books and other collectibles. A window that looked out on the lake. The bathroom was big and spacious, with a stall shower in one corner and a garden tub in the opposite corner.

Shasta jumped on the bed and began looking into every drawer, window, closet and then went into the bathroom whooping with joy. Linds looked at Seth with wide eyes, “and, how about me, do I get a room?” She asked softly.

Seth grinned , "Unfortunately my darling you have to share your room with me. However, I think you will like it." He took her into their bedroom where a king size bed with big, overstuffed pillows flanked by two black cherry end tables greeted them. A fan spun lazily from the ceiling. The bathroom was huge with two sinks and vanities. a stall shower and a jacuzzi instead of a garden tub and ample cabinet space for towels and other bathroom items. "Well Shon, what do you think?"

Linds smiled and threw herself onto the deep feather comforter that enfolded her like a warm hideaway. The rain had begin on the windows, light at first like champagne bubbles against the side of a glass and now harder as the wind began to rumble about the corners of the home. The sound of the wind amongst the pines became almost frightening, it’s intensity worrying Linds as to whether a tree or two might come down. She looked at Seth. “I am so very tired.” It was more an exclamation of thought that meant as a complaint but she wished she had not upset the mood.

"Then lie down and rest Shon. The rain will pass soon enough and when it does, I have another surprise or two for you and Shasta." Seth smiled at her unfazed by her comment. "Ones I know you and she are going to like." He added confidently.

Linds closed her eyes and slept. When she woke she had no idea of how long she slept but she noted the rain had stopped and a slow, steady drip was coming from somewhere. She could hear laughing coming from the living room. She stood and stretched, It felt so good not to be in pain any more and all she wanted was to have a soak in the huge tub. But she wanted to be where the laughter was so she opened the door to see Shasta and Seth playing some kind of board game.

Seth looked up to see Shon, standing there. "Hiya honey! Feel better? Shasta and I are playing Life." He looked at their daughter. "Okay, let me show your mom the kitchen and then we'll all go outside to the patio and......." he drew the sentence out. "To the stables.''
